Yes, this is a great editorial. I like Ann Coulter's two columns about Terri but Jim did the best possible job with an economy of words.
I doubt that conservatives can really take the pro-Michael/pro death position. They may be conservative on many things but they are not conservatives if they do not agree with the right to life. I was shocked that any Freepers other than trolls could believe that dehydration was perfectly proper in this case. I think of the pro-death Freepers as sort of Pod People that may look like people but lack something of human spirit and emotion.

Thank you Jim.
You have a different take on this whole mess and I appreciate it.
This is a very sad event in American life.

...And none of them are incontrovertible or indisputable fact...
They tried to hide this. It has turned into their worst nighmare.
And if it hasn't yet, make it so Captain.
Everyone I've talked to is angry. The people are fed up.
Called Tom Delay's office and said I support him 100% in reining in the judiciary. Greer's little note to the DCF echoed of Mayberry vs Madison. "The other branches of government are not superior to the court in the matters of the law". Something very close to that.
Impeach him for thinking he could order forces which he does not control.
Think I'm riled up? You bet I am.

Jim is right. Murder in the first degree is always wrong, otherwise it would not be murder. Some inferior translations of the Bible/Torah use the word kill in the Commandments, but the correct word is murder. That is what happened to Terri, Judicial Murder.
Voting on a thing makes it neither right nor wrong. Opinions are opinions, they are how someone views a thing. An opinion one way or the other does not make something right or wrong. There is a higher authority, referred to in our founding papers. He has defined right and wrong. Liberals cannot grasp this. No matter how much propaganda is put out, right is still right, wrong is still wrong.
If a judge says a dogs tail is a leg, how many legs does a dog have?
Four, calling a leg a tail does not make it a tail, even if it is called a tail by a judge.
Jim is wrong on count, though. She was simply snuffed out per a judge's order based on three out of five expert "opinions. Terri was tortured to death, with pre-meditation and under color of authority.

I don't agree in euthanasia for people in a PVS, even if the victim put it in writing that they want it, under those conditions. Killing people is wrong.

Well I posted many times to the Terri threads.
I believe for my own edification, that I have learned and now know without a doubt that I am and ignorant, low class, crazy, right wing nut, hypocrite, idiot, stupid idiot, zealot, bigot, pompous, arrogant, self righteous, liar and many, many more comments not worth mentioning.
I have had my Christianity questioned, told not to pray for certain posters and accused of using prayer as weapon.
Even with all of the above I still maintain that the death of Terri Shivo was a court ordered killing of an innocent human being.
For me, states rights, separation of powers nor judicial activism entered into why I felt that way.
What happened to Teri was just wrong for a country that holds itself out to the world as the most humanitarian and caring nation in the history of the mankind.
The verdict is still out but if I was a betting man, I would stake the farm on public opinion turning on the perpetrators of this black mark on our wonderful country.

An innocent woman condemned on hearsay... to death... by a court... with a media successfully convincing 2/3 of the sheeple this was good and right...
On HEARSAY! The chain of evidence holds fast and drags this woman to a dry and miserable death, even while one of its links is a pork rind.

Of course, Terri did not even receive the benefit of a trial much less the benefit of the doubt. Some people just don't seem to get that. They claim her case was thoroughly reviewed by 12, or 20 judges (or whatever number they're pulling out of their butts this week.) One judge decided her fate, and every judge after that just affirmed the first judge's right to do anything he damned well pleases.
Announcing Free Republic's MARCH for JUSTICE II, April 7, 2005, Washington, D.C.!!
