The only news I have is what has been posted here today. Students just want Smith out of here. He has few defenders or supporters here and most people regard his continued presence here to be the result of a corrupt bargain.

It is sort of a nickname for what occurred. Smith declared that The University of Wisconsin at Madison had made an offer to him and the Board of Regents responded by telling their front runner candidate replacement to get stuffed and renewed Smith's contract for more pay. The front runner to replace Smith had already given notice at his then current job because the BoR had indicated that he was going to get the chancellor's position.
