That's true: only the breathing ones.
A nomination for reply of the week. It will tough to beat...
Nope, sorry. Wrong on both. A quick Google search would have found this:
American Pit Bull TerrierRecognition; UKC, NKC, ADBA, CKC, APBR, APRI, ACR
UKC = United Kennel Club. NKC = National Kennel Club. ADBA = The American Dog Breeders Association Inc. CKC = Continental Kennel Club. APBR = The American Pit Bull Registry. APRI = American Pet Registry Inc. ACR = American Canine Registry
I have a golden retriever with the same kind of hard wiring. If around water, must swim out and bring something back. Repeat until human arm falls off from throwing stick. Repeat next day. Repeat until ice covers the resevoir.
I can't imagine Dachshunds going into a frenzy.
Aw, come on; that's irrelevant. We all know exactly what type of dog we are discussing. Or are we again going to proceed with the endless "but what about staffordshire terriers?" hair splitting nonsense? I looked and looked through American Rifleman magazine and couldn't find any reference to a zip gun. I guess they don't exist either.
Let me ask you this - if you were advertising one of these dogs for sale how would you describe it in the paper? As a "pit bull" perhaps? Of course you would, if you wanted to sell it.
Now having said that, not only the dogs but the owner should have been shot.
Agreed, but with a zip gun.
The pitts are the current fad.""
The pit bulls are the dog of choice for drug dealers and meth labs. Even the portable meth labs in Motor homes and Semi Trailers. Yes, I said semi-trailers. They buy an old truck/trailer and do the cook while a driver keeps them moving from place to place. Often the "cookers" are let out at a large shopping area and left there, they don't even know where they are.
I got 2 locations busted for drugs. I reported them based on the fact that they had 3 and 5 pit bulls CHAINED to trees on the property, and the properties were not visible from the roads. I was riding a trail on my horse at the time. I knew where I was and gave the Sheriff's dept good directions, and they got 2 solid drug busts out of the deal. The pit bulls and their heavy chains were a dead give-away.
LOL, bingo!

True. In fact, pit bulls are not in first place for "attacks". However, they hold the "kills" and "severe attacks" award by far.
You haven't seen our neighbor's dachsund.
He's a one dog frenzy every time someone pulls up in the driveway.
Reminds me of the snit the collie people got into over the 'minature collie', aka 'Shetland Sheepdog', aka 'Sheltie'.
OOHHH MANNN,
Doxies are BRUTAL!! They are among some of the toughest in-fighters you have ever seen. Three or four standard Doxies is a gang to be reconned with, big time.
They were/are badger hunters. And badgers don't scare them one little bit!
No, not really. I don't think that an inanimate pistol will chase anyone down of its own free will and then shoot them.
Yep, no doubt the same reasons that Rottweillers are resposible for even more death/injury than pitbulls in the U.S. Also, remember that many vicious shorthaird dogs are often incorrectly labled as a 'pitbulls'. I've read pitbull attack stories locally that have had photos of the bad dog. I have seen Mastiffs, English Bull Terriers(aka Spuds MacKenzie) and a Shar Pei/Rottweiller mix all labled as "pitbulls' The American Pitbull Terrier is a legitimate breed with a long, mostly proud history. (Nipper, The RCA Dog and Pete the Pup from the Little Rascals come to mind)
The problem with pitbulls seems to have started when waves of immigrants from a certain culture came to the U.S. with their 'I am macho because my dog is trained to attack you and any animal' cultural traditions. This attitude has had a few decades now to entrench itself firmly in 'lowlife' culture in general.
While there certainly no small number of bad pitbulls (and owners)out there, one should at least try to be accurate. Pitbull should not be a generic term for a mean short-haired dog
I think you are not reading well today. These are rescued doberman that Al was discussing. It is his choice to place them with an owner that passes muster with him. In other words, he is being responsible.
Get a dog, train it, voila, you have experience. Then go to Al to talk about one of the rescued dobermans.
I can't imagine Dachshunds going into a frenzy.
I can. The breed was developed to hunt badgers.
St. Bernards? Great Danes? Ridiculous!
The trouble is, however, you also know the American bulldog, Dogo Argentina, Bull Terrier, Staffordshire Terrier, and EVERY mixed breed of that listed above plus virtually every type of an aggressive dog as a "Pit Bull"!
