"WHAT!? MP & The Holy Grail RULES!!"

It really should have won the top spot.

"Now you see the violence inherent in the system. Help! Help! I'm being repressed!"

It is my fave comedy of all time, except it's really a very series film.

My fave comedy, which is not a series film, is duck soup.

"Pardon me while I have a strange interlude"

(Is that duck soup? I can't remember.)

I haven't watched them in a while. I saw the ad for the remake with Steve Martin, and it doesn't look like it's even going to come close to the original. My father has all of the originals on DVD, I think I'll borrow them one weekend when I have nothing I need to do.

In "Dr. Strangelove", the B52 Slim Pickens is in gets hit over the Soviet Union by a missle. Control of the plane is momentarily lost. When they regain control, Slim takes out a survival kit and starts going over the contents.

The remake has been a disaster already. It has been shelved and moved several times. Most films that get put out in January (excepting the ones that have late rollouts from December for the Oscars) are the ones that the studios want to quietly dump because they know they are losers.

Old tradition, never watch a film premiering in January.

I found this hilarious:

Brian: Are you the Judean People's Front?
Reg: !@#$%^ off!
Brian: What?
Reg: Judean People's Front! We're The People's Front of
Judea! Judean People's Front, God!
Rogers: Blighters...
Brian: Can I...join your group?
Reg: No, piss off!

Brian: I didn't want to sell this stufff, it's only a job! I hate the Romans as much as anybody!
All in PFJ except Brian: Ssch! Ssch! Ssch! Ssch! Ssch!
Brian: Oh.
Judith: Are you sure?
Brian: Oh, dead sure. I hate the Romans already.
Reg: Listen! If you wanted to join the PFJ, you'd have to have really hate the Romans.
Brian: I do!
Reg: Oh, yeah, how much?
Brian: A lot!
Reg: Right, you're in. Listen, the only people we hate more than the Romans, are the !@#$% Judean People's Front.
All in PFJ except Brian: Yeah!
Judith: Splitters!
Rogers: And the Judean Popular People's Front!
All in PFJ except Brian: Yeah! Splitters!
Loretta: And the People's Front of Judea!
All in PFJ except Brian: Yeah! Splitters!
Reg: What?
Loretta: The People's Front of Judea. Splitters!
Reg: We are the People's Front of Judea!
Loretta: Oh. I thought we were the Popular Front.
Reg: People's Front! God...
Rogers: Whatever happened to the Popular Front, Reg?
Reg: He's over there.
All in PFJ except Brian: Splitter!

Dennis: "You can't expect to wield, SUPREME executive power just 'cause some watery tart threw a sword at you. I mean, if I went around, saying I was emperor just cause some moisten bint had lobed a scimitar at me, they'd put me away!" (MP-The Holy Grail)

That's is my absolute favorite of all time!

I've never understood the appeal of Monty Python.

Are you talking about their movies *and TV show,or just the movies?

I'm a huge fan of a lot of the stuff from TV but was never very impressed by their movies.

Is there any British/BBC comedy that you like? I'm a huge fan of a lot of it.

Some people call movies "shows".

Spectator I: I think it was "Blessed are the cheesemakers".
Mrs. Gregory: Aha, what's so special about the cheesemakers?
Gregory: Well, obviously it's not meant to be taken literally; it refers to any manufacturers of dairy products.

Hilarious! This one, too:

Wise Man #1: Ahem!
Brian's mother: Oh!
[falls over in chair]
Brian's mother: Who are you?
Wise Man #2: We are three wise men.
Brian's mother: What?
Wise Man #1: We are three wise men.
Brian's mother: Well, what are you doing creeping around a cow shed at two o'clock in the morning? That doesn't sound very wise to me.

Unbelievable.

You got that right. I'm a hardcore Python fan and "Life of Brian" wasn't even the funniest movie that had John Cleese in it (that would be "A Fish Called Wanda", which was rated 23rd).

South Park is too highly rated (though I liked it too) and "Young Frankenstein" not rated highly enough (20th). So too "Naked Gun" (14th).

The website has a picture of Oliver Hardy but the list has no Laurel and Hardy movies, which is a shame as "Way Out West" (1937) or "Sons of the Desert (1933) were funnier to me than "Dumb and Dumber."

Why did they post every 10th winner

That was gonna be my question. Hiding the list and posting every tenth one is about the least useful way to display the results I can think of!

The Life Of Brian is pretty funny but I wouldn't call it the funniest ever. I actually think The Holy Grail is funnier. Shaun Of The Dead is excellent too, I'm glad that made it up high.

Hey Maq! Well, it's a British list, American stats would probably pan out differently. But a couple Monty Pythons would inevitably be in the top 10

That was a great line!

My friend actually liked Life of Brian a lot more than I did. It kind of freaked me out. But her fave line was always "'ere 'ere, don't go shoving that baby in the saviour's face!"

Love python, they definately zing all without mercy.
