Go figure, she went from being married to Richard Burton to hanging out with Michael Jackson.

Liz may have been born in England, but both parents were Americans. I didn't even know she was this sick. Bye bye Elizabeth....

Yeah,
but she's always seemed to have a soft spot for misfits (not defending her relationship). But she's never been one to hang out with only the perfect ;)

Her acting in "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof" always amazes me, because her husband was killed during the filming, and she still gave a fabulous performance.

She's not leaving a lot of money to her children. She wants the bulk of her fortune to go to AIDS research."

Do you know how much she is worth total? Very possible she is leaving them enough for them to be comfortable all their lives, and still leave the "bulk" to the research. How much more should she leave them?

***Is it bizarre to believe in sharing your wealth with your family first? I would never, ever bypass my family to give my fortune to help cure what is a 95% behavioral driven disease.***

She may have shared her wealth with them throughout the many years. What she does with her $ is her business.

Ask yourself that question on your 40th birthday.

You tend to forget - it is her money. What she does with it is her business.

She earned it - she decides where it goes.

Most people are able to determine what the needs of their children are.

In fact, Vanderbilt or one of the megarich did not leave a fortune to his children. He advised that the worse thing a parent could do was to leave a fortune to a child. He left a trust fund - but not a megafortune. It went to charity.

"Elephant Walk" is my favorite Liz Taylor film. She was so beautiful.

Oh, and I think she had a daughter-in-law that had AIDS. Never heard how that turned out but know she cared for her.

Seriously,
I don't think there are many women alive today that are as beautiful now as she was then.

I remember seeing her in Jane Eyre when she was all of 12 or so....even then, she made you gasp.

Now a days, 74 is relatively young.
"Old" is like 90 or so.

Even then, I had a Sunday school teacher who at 90 drove a red sports car and was the scourge of the country highways.

Once when she was stopped, the officer asked her why she was in such a hurry. She said "Son, I'm 90 years old....I've got placed to go, and people to see....and time is running out!"

You might have other causes, and that's fine. Warren Buffett is among those who is against large inheritances for children. One factor is how much someone needs (or possibly, deserves) an inheritance.

Exactly why I think WB is a socialist leaning twit.

Taylor has four children, all adults, and you do not know (nor do you need to know) what provision she may have already made for them during her lifetime. AIDS has been a cause of hers for a long time; you are free to donate to your causes as well, as my husband and I do.

Meow! Looks like a "friend" of the family wanted the public to know how she was going to give her money away. Maybe you should take up your grievance with them. Meanwhile, I stand by what I said. Bypassing your family to give the bulk of your wealth to any third party is quite "Hollywoodish" and reminds me why I proudly have nothing in common with these elitists.

What she does with her $ is her business.

Exactly! I never told her what to do. I told the group what I would do.

What? Again? Remember in the early 60's when she had pneumonia? Front page for weeks! Maybe she'll pull out of this latest crisis.

You tend to forget - it is her money. What she does with it is her business.

Or maybe you tend to forget that I haven't told her what she must do with her money. I have commented on what I would do in the same situation. There's quite a difference.

Unless they are the reincarnation of satan, I hope her children hate her.

Erm, this is what you hope her children do. And considering her daughter in law has/had the disease, which is the root of why she's so invovled, I don't think they will hate her :)

That's silly. Why should adult childen get money they did nothing to earn?

It's not like we all live on farms anymore where our livelihood and our inheritance are the same thing.
