Cobb was almost impossible to strike out in his prime. He almost always put the ball in play. Once he got on the bases he could kill you with his running. There's a classic photo of Cobb stealing home plate and all I can say is I wouldn't have liked to have been the catcher who had to block the plate that day.

It's just a matter of style. I love the Babe but I like Cobb better.

Well I look at it this way...

You don't hear of Cobb-ian feats...

you DO hear of Ruthian feats however.

Cobb was an all-time great player, but Babe Ruth put baseball into the national conscious.....

Cobb did. He made a lot of enemies on the baseball diamond. He played to win and he wasn't the nicest guy in the world. If he had been a nice personable guy like the Babe and played in NYC I would bet that Cobb would be just as famous as Ruth.
