Neither one, Ford didn't do anything while President, so he no great loss. Can you imagine how much he has drawn since being out of office. Sad am, too long coming. Hang him high..

If it were possible, I'd love to see a profile comparison of DU members and Freepers.

I have a feeling that the average age of DU members is lower than FReepers (there are probably many more teenaged, 20-something members there), and I bet that they are, on average less educated. Or they're university professors, LOL!

We know for a fact that there are national figures who are members of FR. Is that true for DU? I doubt it.

When I was 20-something, I was a stupid liberal.

That being said--for nearly 40% of that group to be upset that Saddam is dead... wow.

I can't any point to being "upset" about either one.

Mr. Ford was in his 90's, but of course his death is still a sad occasion for his family and friends. The world is well-rid of Saddam Hussein, but of course his death is still a sad occasion for those of his family he didn't murder, and his friends if he had any.

I think EVERYONE that voted democrat in the last election should log on to DU and read a few posts.

It will quickly show them what they supported.

That is a fairly conservative post for DU.

It gets much worse than that.

I'm not surprised, but I remain baffled that so many in our society are totally unable to see the difference between good and (outright) evil. In another poll I saw last week, there were people who actually thought the President was worse than Osama Bin Laden. This can only be mass insanity. What's being added to the water these people are drinking?

How you can even compare the two is beyond me. If you didn't care for what Gerald Ford did during his presidency, at least have a little respect for the office of the President. You're no better than the DUmmies.

I'm not upset about the passing of Gerald Ford. 93 years is a long life, and he lived well and deserves his rest. Upset about Saddam? You've got to be kidding. May he roast in hell for all eternity with a pig blood IV stuck in his arm.

DU pulled that post. Guess someone there still has a little sanity.

Even the insane will engage in behavior for self-preservation. No one there is sane.

Uh ... they're both men, both former heads of state, both dead?

If you didn't care for what Gerald Ford did during his presidency, at least have a little respect for the office of the President.

As far as I know, President Ford was an excellent man. Nonetheless, he was 93, and "respect for the office of the President" doesn't require one to be "upset" at the death from natural causes of an extremely elderly person.

You're no better than the DUmmies.

And bless your heart, too, honey. I was aiming for a little sideways humor, and I suppose I failed, but you can get a grip any time you want.

That's because they are into themselves and MTV. They do not allow themselves to become properly informed citizens.

They loved Saddam because he was a brown person, and brown people are inherently better than white guys.

After reading my post #24, I think Sadam did more for our economy than Ford. Sadam caused the upscaling of our war efforts, got lots of interest in joining the Armed Services, and provided lots of jobs for every one. All I can remember Ford doing is falling down the airplane steps.
