Adware SE Personal
http://www.download.com/Ad-Aware-2007/3000-8022_4-10045910.html

Be very careful... it isn't "Adware" it's "Ad-Aware"... and there is a huge difference. "Adware" is actually more of a trojan that installs more spyware and adware on your computer...

Run them in that order, SpyBot first, Adware second.

First make sure you run a good anti-virus application such as AVG from Grisoft and make sure your Ad-Aware and SpyBot Search and Destroy are up-to-date... even if you just downloaded them.

Yes, Mac’s will bring peace and love to the world, feed the poor, clean up the precious environment, stop “global warming” and cure cancer.

Is there anything that they can’t do?

As of right now? Get infected with spyware, adware, and viruses. Macs, like any computer are susceptible to Trojans.

PCLinuxOS is so easy, you don't NEED to use a command line, ever. I haven't yet. Not all Linux distros are hard.

I doubt it.

Let's say, for example, that you want to create a Flash movie. That is a common task for anyone creating a web site. You can use the Ming library to do that. It's trivial for a Linux expert to get it working in most distributions. But can you do it in Ubuntu without touching a command line? I doubt it.

Or, perhaps you want to create some 3D graphics, you might decide to use Aqsis. It works great in Linux, but can you get it to work in Ubuntu without opening a terminal? I doubt it.

If you can get Ming or Aqsis to work in Ubuntu without using the command line, I'll retract my statement.

I provided the link to the correct program. That typo was copied and pasted from someone else’s post. The problem was fixed already.

I’ve rebooted and ran the test again. It still says it has 456 total infections detected.

Make sure you Select All before you let the app take action... if you don't check the items found, it won't do anything.

Good... I saw that. But I know of a lot of people who went searching for "Adware" and got bitten... ;^)>

Almost everyone on this thread recommending Ad-Aware made the same error... it's easy to do.

What? Did I say Ubuntu? No, I didn't. You are using Linux/Ubuntu as synonymous when they are not. I said PCLinuxOS. I've been running this as my daily OS since early November. Not once have I used a single console command.

Sorry... PCLinuxOS. Can it install the two packages I mentioned without using the command line?

Uh-oh. I didn't see anything that said 'check all'.

It doesn't say quite that... and I don't have a Windows machine up and running here right now. You can check each one individually, but that gets tedious with 456 of them to do. There is a way to select all of them. Anyone got it up and running???

I've three websites that have a combined total (excluding bots) of 4 million visitors over their existence. Not one has a flash movie nor 3d graphics - what part of your proposed project is anywhere part of what a common user would be doing?

But, Ming Library and Aqsis are both on the update library, to install, it's a simple click to select, which chooses all dependent libraries, and click download and install, and it's installed on Ubuntu, and likely on PCLinuxOS as well. Wine installs in a click, so you can run many of your Windows programs without needing to go to the terminal.

It doesn't say quite that...

Thank goodness.

You can check each one individually, but that gets tedious with 456 of them to do.

That would really be a task going through all of the one by one.
