Hedley Lamarr: I want rustlers, cut throats, murderers, bounty hunters, desperados, mugs, pugs, thugs, nitwits, halfwits, dimwits, vipers, snipers, con men, Indian agents, Mexican bandits, muggers, buggerers, bushwhackers, hornswogglers, horse thieves, bull dykes, train robbers, bank robbers, ass-kickers, shit-kickers and Methodists.

Could you repeat that?

Hedley forgot to mention airheads and fainters.

When I was at the university we had an organization associated with the rodeo called the saddle club.

Maybe Free Republic needs a Blazing Saddles Club?

123 posts and not one mention of Randolph Scott?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Randolph_Scott

He was a WW1 vet

He tried to re-enlist as an artillery officer at the start of WWII but was rejected due to a back injury.

He did USO show during WWII

Hehe -
OK you almost got it right with Babelfish (I presume). Yup, it’s great to get a good taste of a side of American life we don’t get to see that often in our media.
Cheers, A13.
(BTW: my moniker of course refers to the most heroic event in space adventure - apart from the terribly tragic events with the shuttles, I should add.)

Doesn’t “Hombre” with Paul Newman make the list?

That is one great film.
I don’t know which Paul Newman flick I like better:
“Hombre” or “Cool Hand Luck”.

I don’t know which I like better, “The Searchers” or
“The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance” of the John Wayne westerners.

Fantastic movie. I always preferred Eastwood’s work over the “cleaner”
west of the Wayne/Ford type.

IMHO, there was another “less-than-clean” western from the 1950s.
It’s been at least a couple of decades since I’ve seen it, but for
another western movie with a protagonist “seeking justice”, I did
like Gregory Peck as a stone-cold avenger in “The Bravados”.
