I remember free gas station road maps too.

And whatever happened to Howard Johnson’s? They used to be as common as Denny’s are today, as I remember. The bright orange roof was their trademark.
I still drink RC cola but the moon pies now days are small...they used to be HUGE! ;)

Yes. And I remember when people dressed up to fly.
We had a Bud Man beach towel that we took camping. We had one of the pop up trailers that we pulled behind our lime green station wagon with the faux wood sides. The kids rode all the way in the back, no seat belts.
We cooked the fish we caught on one of those little fold up Coleman stoves.
We wrapped spare change and split the proceeds between three kids to have money we could spend while on vacation.
We wore cut off jeans which had become too short for us to wear the regular way. My mom even opened the outer seams and added contrasting material to stretch the jeans for a few more months. When we cut off the bottoms of the jeans to make shorts, she made matching purses out of the left over.
We would take our old tennis shoes that we out grew and cut the toes off the top to make water shoes to take on vacation.
My mom made an oven out of a cardboard box and foil to bake biscuits on an open fire once.
My parents were soo cool.
"From the land of sky blue waters..."
Once met a chick in a bar who said she was the one who sang the background chorus for that beer commercial song. Her claim to find: (Soprano: Waters...!)
