Bob Gibson was a gold gloves boxer. No one charged the mound on him. Ryan Ventura charged Nolan Ryan and for his trouble got put into a headlock and ate a number of punches.

You don’t understand jack about baseball so why not go back to talking about what you know....

“Well, hopefully this thread proves to you that inane posts get flamed along with those of the freeper boomer generation (September 1, 2008-November4, 2008) who are suspected of coming here to foment discord.”

I’ve lurked long enough to see some inane posts here. Some were left standing, some were not. It appears as though you have a dog in this fight. I do not. Just noticed that this person has been around here a long time, and figured he or she would have been shown the door a long time ago if they were constantly “fomenting discord”.

Have a nice evening.

So much for discourse.

I remember a post I made years ago attempting to persuade a highbrow FReeper that the television show Gilligan's Island was as legitimate an academic tool in the study of sociology as the book Lord of the Flies.

It turned very ugly.

So much for discourse is right.

I have been at Lacrosse games in conditions like you described and the ball was floating on the field, it was raining sideways and man it was hard to keep stats in those conditions.....

It was miserable and I did not think the conditions particularly compatible with lacrosse but they kept playing much to my misery

Somehow trying to hang on to a wet slippery bat and connect with a wet slippery ball going 90 mph would be almost impossible. Then if the batter does connect good luck to the guys in the field to try to see it.....you are right, it would be worthless to continue to play......

Are you the sole owner of this website? Have you been promised co-ownership through a membership fee? If the answer is no, then what gives you the right to try and trump private ownership?

If the owner or his designated representative does not like the fact that you are wasting bandwith, so be it. Remember, “A poster is not above the owner.”

“Where did my original post go? Or do you just dump what you do not agree with?”

On FR there is the serial rule on posts. I know, I know, you haven’t heard of it yet but I’ll explain.

A post that we don’t agree with is toast and a serial post even more so. Call it, We don’t agree with Post Toasties Serial Rule.

And “Yup” WAS the animal sound of the “Big Dog” eating your lunch. From Teacher.

Early one morning, two men broke into a gymnasium (high school) east of Stockholm to steal baseball equipment.

After a profitable stroll through the building, they were startled by a janitor. They raced out of the building into the pre-dawn darkness. Fearing imminent detection, they took a shortcut to safety--down the face of a steep 55-foot rock escarpment. But in selecting this convenient shortcut, they failed to consider three crucial facts:

First, it was pitch black. Due to the northern latitude, the sun rises late in Sweden. Second, it had rained during the night. And third, the rock in eastern Sweden is granite, the type of rock that is polished into posh floors and fancy countertops. The danger of slippery granite is a well-known fact for residents of the area.

Escaping down a granite cliff, in the rain, in the dark? Try tilting a slab of polished granite, pouring water over it, and making a controlled descent while carrying a load of loot. This is the province of mountain goats, not humans hoping to pass on their genes. In short, one of the burglars slipped and fell head-over-heels to his death, bringing a new meaning to "the crack of dawn."

His worldly riches were scattered around him.

Don't play baseball in the rain.

Be a pleasant and gracious guest when in another's house.
(and, get a haircut)
