“according to regulations”
Unlawful orders are contrary to regulations. The CiC may not issue unlawful orders and expect them to be obeyed nor can a noncom be prosecuted for refusing said orders.

Roger that. It would be decidedly uncomfortable... and quite possibly dangerous for the homo... and I will not use the “g” word, as I do not acknowledge their perversion of a perfectly good word.

I retired in ‘93, myself.

Semper fi brother.

It’s funny you mention that about being gay. I can remember as a kid my grandma saying about homosexuals, “why do they have to use the word gay?”. As young people in the 20’s, she used that word all the time.

Or the “Gay Nineties” that my grandparents lived through!

Hells bells.

I was just posting what the oaths are since one says “the President of the United States” and the other doesn’t thus posing the question of “Is it only the enlisted who have to obey?

The orders have to be lawful orders in order to be obeyed.

Close, but remember UCMJ is Military Law... based on the Constitution. The "Oath" is to protect the Constitution, all other parts of the oath are secondary. The founders feared government above all, that is why the Oath is structured; “I, _____, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same.

In this first part, the President and/or other "superiors" are not mentioned... for a reason... a government can become oppressive and The People (Including military members) guided by the Constitution are the final option in correcting a bad government

To correct my own spelling. It should be “principles” not
“principals” And feel free to call me on it should any
repetition be made. (by me)

May have been a Yale scheme to identify beforehand those who would otherwise stand in the way of a future [er, current] communist coup.

[And if it wasn’t...that is how it’ll be used anyway.
