OUCH.
Hoping to find you feeling better in another day or so.

Oops. Yes, my van is wrecked. And yes, I was hurt, but not seriously. They x-rayed my right foot at the ER, and nothing is broken. After spending the afternoon in bed, it feels much better. My shoulder still hurts, but that’s probably more about holding the 18-lbs. baby than the accident.

Frank and Sally were with me; they had no injuries.

The van’s a total loss - front end is gone. It was a head-on; the other driver came right at me in my lane, and I couldn’t pull off without flipping the van, which would have been much worse for the kids and me, although better for the van.

We’ve got a bonus coming (employer is doing great this year); the other driver’s insurance will pay whatever a 10-year-old commercial van with 100K mileage is worth; and our bank has been begging us to take out a car loan! We’ll just have to take turns going to Mass this weekend.

Was the driver drunk, or what?

I will pray for your NEXT van.

Don’t know. He told the paramedics that he didn’t drink, and he was sufficiently shocked that it’s believable. (He also told them it was Tuesday.) Could have been medication, stroke, fell asleep, or just a sudden attack of stupid that made him want to pass in heavy traffic on a 2-lane road.

Please do pray for the next van, because you don’t find those things at every dealer!

DP talked to our insurance adjuster since my last post, and they’re going to go after the driver and the owner (not the same person) with both feet. The adjuster said that when he mentions there was a 4-month-old baby in the car, the other insurance company is likely to play ball *real fast*.

Well, for what it’s worth, after paragraphing, it is quite interesting. Thanks.
