I don’t think any artificial sweetener is safe to use. I don’t drink soda so it’s pretty easy for me to avoid it as the other things they put it into are of no interest to me either.
I drink diet coke. I appreciate having a something sweet which doesn’t have calories. Further, aspartate does naturally occur in our bodies and we do need some of it.
I’ve been drinking it in diet soda for 25 years. I’ve missed one day of work in the last 15 years.
Stevia is excellent, but you have to learn how to blend it. (the less, the better, to avoid possible bitterness), and Agave is a true sugar, but of lower glycemic potential than glucose.
.
Nobody can consume enough aspartame at one time to produce enough formaldehyde to get sick or go blind.
Since I put it in my coffee for years I read up on these allegations, they are such hyperbole. I never had any problem. However the powers that be now prefer splenda, so that’s what we have in the house now.
Dont use it if it bothers you, if it doesnt bother you, I doubt it will hurt you. I have near zero tolerance for the FDA but I have to agree with them on this one, it really does look safe.
I have heard this same thing before.
I use NO ARTIFICAL SWEETNERS and never, ever add sugar to anything I eat.
Sugar is bad for you, so the thing to do is attenuate your desire for it. IMHO
Years ago I put some aspartame sweetener into a very hot cup of tea. The smell of methanol and formaldehyde coming out of that tea as the stuff decomposed from the heat were enough to put me off artificial sweeteners. Even if you drink it in cold beverages, the stuff breaks down in your stomach.
Aspartame is being replaced by other sweeteners, such as sucralose (which doesn’t break down when heated). Why use aspartame?
Also, stevia is now being used as a sugar substitute.
Stevia is the bomb. Kept out of the US for years by the sugar lobby. No calories. It’s an herb, for cry-eyed, sort of brownish-green, once dried, with leaves about the size of mint leaves.
A box of it lasts forever and a day. Well, not really, but we’re fans of it in this house.
And yes, we do like sugar. And honey.
It doesn’t have to be at one time!
The effect of methanol on your retina, and optic nerves is cumulative. (it destroys cells)
There is a strong case against any and all Soda pop.
Sugar-bad for you
High fructose corn syrup-bad for you
Sodium Benzoate-poison
Aspartame-poison
Acid-bad for your teeth

I don’t like the taste of artificial sweeteners, but I love msg and some of the other things that are supposed to be harmful. Who gives are rats ass? Oil and Obama are much worse for your health.
Well then how about all of that phosphoric acid that is the first ingredient listed. Did you know that phosphoric acid will attach heavy metals to whatever they come into contact with?
Research a process called WespHix then see just how eager you are to dump that junk down your gullet.
It gives me a headache as well. I switched to tea.
I get headaches, feel sluggish, mentally slow, and overall simply run down. I avoid the stuff. Ingesting less sugar is better than using aspartame. I use less sugar in tea and coffee and rarely add sugar to any prepared foods or much while cooking. Same with salt.
Same with me. I get migraines.
I know a woman who would pass out whenever she drank it.
I wouldn’t trust it.
My family has only gotten it by mistake.
It makes me irresistible to the opposite sex.
P.S. The wife uses Stevia and seems to like it with no run down feelings.
Consume tons of it. Feel fine.
Thank you.
