The Young Man of Chan Hol, named after the cenote it was found in, was recovered in a 542 meters long and 8.3 deep cave where stalagmites abound, and is reached after going through flooded, dark and difficult labyrinths. Photo: DMC INAH. M. MARAT.

“I don’t think even I can save him.” /House
“The information it has lodged for centuries will reveal new data regarding the settlement of the Americas.”
I hope it turns out that the Scotch/Irish were here first but driven off their lands by Indians and Mexicans.
He was trying to tunnel his way into “El Norte”.
...."and found with him was a BofA card with a $500 dollar limit and a receipt from Taco Bell's in Houston."
The very FIRST, undocumented voter for Obama, probably still on the active voter rolls in Chicago.
Spectacular find. Pre-Clovis.
Sorry ~ the predecessors of the Scots and Irish were most likely still living somewhere in China at the time and could not be reached.
“Arturo Gonzalez detailed that in the Ice Age the Peninsula of Yucatan must have been a desert pastureland that turned into rainforest due to climate change.”
And AlGore thinks he invented climate change.
“Sorry ~ the predecessors of the Scots and Irish were most likely still living somewhere in China at the time and could not be reached.”
Rats. I was hoping for some world-class irony.
Let’s pull a tooth, extract DNA, and see if he’s another long-lost brother of Bill Clinton.
We have to go all the way back to the end of the last major glaciation which is about 14,000 years ago. What we have here is someone who got lost in a cave during or toward the end of the Younger Dryas.
This is a very old skeleton, but there have got to be even older skeletons ~ although probably not in the NE due to the acidic nature of the soil ~ just gobbles the metals (iron, calcium) up.
This is a limestone cavern ~ which is the reason it was preserved.
I'd suggest that someone get busy and find a series of sealed caves somewhere in Southern Indiana ~ we know there were Clovis people in the region earlier because they left substantial numbers of points. But there are limestone caves in the South that are not flooded. Instead, they managed to get filled with sand. If there are skeletons anywhere, that'd be the place.
Wait, I just had a vision 8>O.....wait.....wait....got it.
What is that cat doing? Looks suspicious.
Remember, America is very easy to reach on the Pacific side. Trouble is there's no turning back. The Atlantic is also suitible for passage except for a statistically high average number of troublesome icebergs.
...just watching posts, he’s sorta laid back.....
Maybe it was Kilroy.
Cute. Is he yours?
