Prepare yourself and your family as best you can. Have at least one month (preferably 2 to 3 months) of non-perishable food on hand for your entire family. Have firearms and plenty of ammo. If you live in a large city, have some place you can go for an extended period.

Too many big wigs out of the country now; food prices are soaring; democrats are in a state of shock; we’re finding that many people are actually proud to call themselves socialists. The new crop of repubs aren’t going to be able to turn things around fast enough, if at all.

Best to be prepared and pleasantly surprised, than caught unaware and unprepared when the SHTF. I think it’s going to be bad. Going out to stock up on canned food tomorrow. What could it hurt? It’ll be cheaper tomorrow than it will be at the end of the week.

Buy ammo, lots of it.

.223 FMJ 10000+ rounds
.308 5000+ rounds.

00 buckshot 5000+ shells

Deer Slugs 5000+ shells.

Ammo will be better than gold. A commodity that people will barter for.

The only thing I don’t have covered that we can’t cover, unless some land we are trying to sell actually sells, is paying off our home. We also don’t have enough silver. We at least live way out in the country and if we can pay for our home we have enough wood to heat our house and our wood stove can be used as a cook stove. We can dump everything else. We have food that would probably stretch for about a year and usually do a garden. We also only use the old time seeds to plant for food. We were going to buy chickens this spring and never did :( that makes me sad. Hubby has to build something first and never got around to it.

that theme song has got to go

Of all the various opening theme songs Glenn has had the current is by far my least favorite.

Thanks.

I like Beck — his radio show always cracks me up (not so much his TV show, but it is always interesting and entertaining when I catch it on the rebroadcast when I am having insomnia).

But I wouldn’t worry about his apocalyptic predictions. And need I remind you his #1 sponsor is a Gold broker?

I lived through hyperinflation as well. We have a lot more circuit-breakers in place today as a result of those dark days (although aspects of those days already look like a day at the beach compared to today).

*DOH* I meant “stagflation” not “hyperinflation.”

Your remark reminds me of a story the late Representative — and physician — Larry McDonald often told to make a point:
A man visits the local ER with a broken arm. He’s escorted into an exam room and the doctor enters.

Ignoring the splintered ulna protruding from the man’s forearm, the doctor sniffs the air and asks “Is that an after shave or a cologne? What is it?”

Perplexed, through teeth clenched in pain, the man tells him.

The doctor then fondles the patient’s tie and remarks “Beautiful tie. Wherever did you buy it?”

Now in pain AND angry, the man blurts “Damn it, doc, what about my arm?”

The doctor responds “Well, I WAS going to mention that — but I didn’t want to upset you.”

Point: It’s ALWAYS better to know the truth because you’re gonna find out anyway in ways you might not enjoy.

I always keep in mind what living in Poland must have been like during the Nazi and later, Commie occupation.

Others:
Israel during the ‘48 and ‘73 wars.
Germany during WW1 and WW2.
Anytime in Russia under Stalin.

Much worse than anything going on now.

Fuel prices will jump as well.

Remember that this administration is big on central planned soviet style high rises linked with high speed trains.

Runaway inflation is a means to that end.

Read this. It has nothing to do with Glenn Beck. You should make some preparations.

The Food Shock Of 2011

Rampant Inflation In 2011? The Monetary Base Is Exploding, Commodity Prices Are Skyrocketing And The Fed Wants To Print Lots More Money

But what is even more troubling is the dramatic spike in commodity prices that we have seen in 2010.

Wheat futures have surged 63 percent since the month of June. Wheat has recently been selling well above 7 dollars a bushel on the Chicago Board of Trade.

But wheat is far from alone. In his recent column entitled "An Inflationary Cocktail In The Making", Richard Benson listed many of the other commodities that have seen extraordinary price increases over the past year....

*Agricultural Raw Materials: 24%
*Industrial Inputs Index: 25%
*Metals Price Index: 26%
*Coffee: 45%
*Barley: 32%
*Oranges: 35%
*Beef: 23%
*Pork: 68%
*Salmon: 30%
*Sugar: 24%
*Wool: 20%
*Cotton: 40%
*Palm Oil: 26%
*Hides: 25%
*Rubber: 62%
*Iron Ore: 103%

Now, as those price increases enter the chain of production do you think that there is any chance that they will not cause inflation?

Do you think there is any chance at all that producers and retailers will not pass those costs on to consumers?

It is time to face facts.

During the Carter adm. sugar prices were so high, restaurants quit putting packets on the tables, you had to ask for sugar, eventually the price came down. I think it was market manipulations and someone made a killing in the market..

We live about 4.5 hours from any city. I’d say about half the people or more in this town, we are either kin to or my hubby has known them all his life. There is riff raff here, but, you know with a small population a small amount of riff raff. We have two guns and some ammo, probably not enough. We have enough food for maybe a year. I’m sure after several months we’d be down to slim pickin’s but, we’d still be eating.

Ammo and toilet paper. It lasts forever and you can barter with it. Also little bottles of cheap vodka.

I’m right there with you MsLady.

I’ve been a Beck fan for close to 10 years. But, what he’s saying now scare’s the CRAP out of me. (I’m not as polite!)

I’m pretty involved in business, on a global scale. It’s tough for me to believe that things could REALLY be THAT bad... but, I’m also smart enough to see what’s happening. The US is pretty much bankrupt, technically... the only thing left for us is.. a severe currency devaluation. It’s already started. The ONLY thing keeping it from getting unruly is... China.

Think about this: When Russia imploded, financially... did you care? Well, I assure you... people in China feel the SAME way about the US. They don’t care what evil befalls the USA.

If China is the only thing keeping us from financial ruin (and, pretty much.. they are)... then, we are SCREWED.

It’s past time to prepare.. but, better late than never. I AM stocking food, and silver coins. And, guns.. and ammo. JUST in CASE.

If he’s wrong? I’ll be fine. If he’s right?? Well... we’re all in bad shape, but... I’ll be better off than some.
