I have been told, repeatedly, that attacks like this are rare.

Have you ever looked up solid statistics on how rare or how common pit bull attacks are? Or are you one of those folks that figures if the media is discussing something it's an imminent threat all children and other living things, like Alar on apples, road rage, shark attacks and the gas tanks of GM trucks that just happen to have rocket engines duct taped to them?

There is nothing wrong with this breed. Those who say there is are using everything but science to make their claims.

I would suppose that if you live with someone/thing that requires a stun gun to control you might want to rethink your decision to live with such a thing,

Ya hear that Honey, I’m thinking it over.

You tell `em Mr. Silverback. These bulldog haters would shoot a blind woman and her dog.

Love is blind.
Helen Keller was blind.
God is love.
Helen Keller loved American bulldogs.
That made her somewhat god-like.
Shooting a god-like person’s dog is something only a dirty atheist would do.

Shooting a blind woman’s greatest source of happiness, her faithful dog. Shame shame, you know your name ...

***Sigh.***

When Fox16 talked to her she was heavily sedated and barely cognizant but confirmed she was in a lot of pain.

Well, that's the exact time you want to do an interview! Journalistic ethics on parade!

The police report says Jordan was walking down this alley behind South Pulaski Street when the two dogs came rushing at her out of a yard with no fence.

Hmmm...owning large dogs with a small yard and no fence. Gee, must have been some genetic component only pit bulls have, no problem with the owner.

Allmon faces charges of failure to license a pet and letting the animals roam at large.

What? No, that's not possible, no pit bull attack could ever be the owner's fault! Heck, why are they called pit bull attacks if a human did something stupid? This man is innocent!

Pit bull owners don’t want to admit that it runs with the breed. Maybe they’re afraid of the philosophical implications.

Newfoundland owners don’t want to admit that it runs with the breed. Maybe they’re afraid of the philosophical implications.

Bulldog owners don’t want to admit that it runs with the breed. Maybe they’re afraid of the philosophical implications.

German Shepherd owners don’t want to admit that it runs with the breed. Maybe they’re afraid of the philosophical implications.

Doberman owners don’t want to admit that it runs with the breed. Maybe they’re afraid of the philosophical implications.

The media did it to those breeds before, they're doing it to pit bulls now. They're doing the same thing with dogs that they did with alar on apples, shark attacks in the summer of '01 and GM trucks in '92.

In extensively designed temperament tests, Pits score better than the Golden Retriever and several points better than Beagles.

1) Large and/or aggressive breed of dog? YES! Owner thought an appropriate method of control was a stun gun.

2) Running loose, often >1 running loose? YES! Two pits packed up to seek and destroy.

3) Previous reports of aggressive behavior? Not reported.

4) Unrealistic expectation of gentleness from owner, often despite #3 above? Yes and no. Yes in that he thought nothing of opening the door and letting them out while he stayed in, no in that he figured the only way to control them was with a stun gun.

If you want an education on Pitbulls, just go to the local Animal Shelter and see that 75% of the dogs there are Pitbulls. People get them as pups and then dump them into shelters when they can’t control them.

<><><<>

You learned the wrong lesson. The lesson is about the dog owners (if that’s what you call someone who gets a dog, and then refuses to train the poor beast).

It’s not that they cannot control them, it is the fact that training them is more effort than they wanted to put into it.

That being said, I’m a retriever guy. Give me a goofy golden, or a lab who cannot be without a tennis ball. Hell, I’ll take ‘em both.

S0me years ago a pit bull was mauling a child in one of the Atlanta neighborhoods (big surprise there) and the owner was just watching. A neighbor ran in his house and got a .357 and shot the dog. At that point the owner attacked the neighbor screaming “Don’t hurt my dog. Don’t hurt my dog.” He shot her too. She survived actually not badly wounded. The dog didn’t. The owner was convicted and actually spent some jail time for attacking the guy with the gun. (all in an Amish neighborHOOD)

My brother and I were walking across the street from a farmhouse we knew had loose vicious dogs, sure enough all three came out and crossed the street to harass us. We had knives and rocks and were driving them off when the owners came out, the woman screaming “They don’t bite!” and the man screaming “How would you like it if I attacked you?”.

I said “You mean cross the street to bark and act threatening just like your idiot dogs? You are doing exactly that.”

He drew back like he was going to hit me and I motioned that I was holding a six inch butterfly knife a lot closer to his heart than his fist was to my face.

“Get you and your idiot wife and your idiot dogs out of the street.” I advised him.

He screamed and blustered and threatened that he was going in to get his gun - but he got his idiot self, his idiot wife, and his idiot dogs all out of the street.

That is the typical pit bull owner you hear about in the news, the rest of them manage to keep their dogs in control and stay out of the news.

I didn't realize Chet99 got booted, but seriously, I have noticed a lack of Pit Bull post.

Like having a loaded & cocked gun for a pet. Eventually by accident or on purpose its gonna go off.

Before he was banned Chet99 scoured the web for every bit of Pit Bull bad news ever published and posted them on FR.

Sounds like a public service to me.
