How reliable are entomologists from California universities when it comes to this kind of stuff . . . ?

The team of scientists working from the funding have discovered a bat, two frogs, two lizards, two fish, a land crab and many insects since 2008. Not much of a find for 12 people and 3 years. Wonder if Dawn detergent and water will kill the wasp like it does with the common ones?

Yes of course. Shocked.
Professionally shocked liberal university mooches promoting for more funding.
I for one, am not shocked. I’d be shocked if they got a real job.

I have violent reactions to yellow jackets & red wasp.
The Velvet Ant species is mostly a curiosity to watch as it hunts.

The large jaws on the new Wasps are for trimming the crust off the bread for the cucumber sandwiches.

Its jaws are so large that they wrap up either side of the head when closed. When the jaws are open they are actually longer than the males front legs. I dont know how it can walk, Kimsey said in a news release."I'm a dork-wasp!"

Ding! Ding! Your short post is a winner! It used to be that the university professors published their writings to advance their profession. Now they compete for the government grant which they encourage through campaign contributions.

Thanks GeronL. Entymology topic. ...a new giant black warrior wasp species. The wasp will be added to the list of items named after the country's national symbol, the mythical bird Garuda... the male wasp measuring approximately two-and-a-half inches long. Somebody remind me to take a can of Raid when I visit Indonesia. To all -- please ping me to other topics which are appropriate for the GGG list. |

We’ve got wasps that look like that here in Nebraska. Tons of them in fact; their sting burns like the dickens.

We were told that Sulawesi has a dry and rainy season.
But the only difference we could see between the dry and rainy season is that during the dry season, it rains only in the afternoon.
Lady, you crack me up.
($4 Million spent, and all we get is a Big Scary Wasp and a lousy joke. I want a refund)

Theres talk of forming a biosphere reserve to preserve this, she said. There are so many rare and endangered species on Sulawesi that the world may never see.
AKA Let’s keep Sulawesi backwards forever. They aren’t luck like Americans and Europeans to have developed their countries before the onset of Environmentalism, emphasis mental.
