As Iron Butterfly was represented in Captain Beyond too.
Here try this....bit of Captain Beyond..

Enjoy..........
Lars might be mad about it but James Hetfield blamed it on voters who didn't have a clue about what metal was. Aqualung was a monster album and it probably did deserve a Grammy, just not one in that category. In the long run Metallica became the number 1 metal band in the world and eventually got their Grammy. They still sell out arenas worldwide, which probably helps to ease the sting.
I had to search the ends of the earth for the original VHS, way back when....;D
For anyone who cares to partake:

[*love* the “Sweet Dreams” and “Dun Ringill” bits]
Aqualung was not the album.
It was “Crest Of A Knave” and it did have some kick ass [but not necessarily heavy metal] songs.

It was a very good album, overall.
Please ID the git Ian’s playing.

[Hamer Californian with custom walnut body?]
I just looked it up and as far as I can figure out, it was a concert from 2003 -
Great Concert at Montreux, Switzerland - Direct TV
"Jesus' blood never failed me yet,
Never failed me yet.
Never failed me yet.
This one thing I know,
For he loves me so."
Gavin re-recorded it in a loop. First as the foreground with no accompaniment. Then with violins and cello coming in from the background and eventually with Tom Waits coming in with his gravely basso profundo. First in harmony and then taking over...all the while singing the same phrase over and over;
"Jesus' blood never fgailed me yet,
Never failed me yet.
Never failed me yet.
This one thing I know,
For he loves me so."
It is an arrangement that will make you reflect and then bring you to tears. It is 4 minutes of music you will never forget.
Jars Of Clay recorded it in their fashion and it is good but the raw emotion of the original is missing.
You could probably find it on the 'net somewhere if you look. I have the original recording. If you want it, Freepmail me and I can get it to you.
I'll check them out. Thanks!
Thank you much!
That’s a fine place to do that.
LOL! You can't think of the one without the other if you lived through both.
Just drove home, sat back, and listened to Thick As A Brick one more time, real loud. It's still stunning.
"Do you believe in the day? Do you? Believe in the day!"
There looks to be more than one, a blue one and a brownish one.
This was always my favorite stanza:
The Poet and the painter casting shadows on the water —
as the sun plays on the infantry returning from the sea.
The do-er and the thinker: no allowance for the other —
as the failing light illuminates the mercenary’s creed.
The home fire burning: the kettle almost boiling —
but the master of the house is far away.
The horses stamping — their warm breath clouding
in the sharp and frosty morning of the day.
And the poet lifts his pen while the soldier sheaths his sword.
[and it’s really cruel for y’all to infect me with a 45 minute long “ear-worm”]....:)
Thanks.
Wasn’t sure.
The walnut-looking one is ~gorgeous~.
Are you familiar with any Tull video compilations? That’d be a nice way to spend the day.
i was raised to believe that rocknroll stars were too cool to be bothered with awards like the grammys . i’m not even sure that the beatles ever won one, maybe for the song let it be. i thought a rock star’s rewards for success were drug fueled alcohol binges and throwing limousines out of hotel windows
I’ve got all their official video releases.
[and a couple “others” from eBay]...;D
Seems like deja vu. :-)
This will be the first CD in a long, long time that I’ll be looking forward to purchasing on its release.
Bumping this thread. A couple more weeks now, it would seem.
So has anyone listened yet?
Got the CD yesterday and listened to 6 tracks so far. Not exactly TAAB1, but not bad either.
