Yes boneless chuck roast. Not to fat and not to lean. Just the right amount of fat for flavor.

Hold on! Is this on the list of "APPROVED" foods from Empress Michelle 0bama?

I’ll take an order of shredded swine flesh and chicken embryos.

I'll have the same, but leave the embryos out of mine. Stick with the unfertilized eggs, please.

What concerns me is that the pink slime is treated with ammonia ...presumably to kill bacteria. Does the ammonia alter the “meat” and leave any toxic or harmful residues? What if not enough ammonia is used could it mean the pink slime could be contaminated? I would note that cigarettes also contain ammonia. Where is the FDA on this ...shouldn’t consumers be notified that their beef contains this altered beef product?

Ammonia, in many forms, is extremely common and a necessary molecule for life. All proteins, for instance, contain a form of ammonia. Hence the name "amino acid" for protein building blocks--amine or amino refers to the ammonia group (-NH3).

The ammonia is not used to kill bacteria (on the contrary, ammonia is often used to feed bacteria in the lab). One use is to control pH.

Here is more info.

I think Trader Joe’s “grass fed” beef patties have filler now.

I was going to split a patty for breakfast with Mrs. JohnnyP. I wanted to salt the meat clear through, so I started chopping with a chef’s knife. Instead of breaking apart, the patty held together as I worked the knife. I stopped when it was thin and the size of a large pancake. Then I salted it and rolled it up gently and formed two small breakfast patties. It cooked up great, but had the texture of cardboard.

I had two more patties on hand, so last night I started looking for filler. I balled the patties up then slowly tried pulling the meat apart. I could see hundreds of very fine white threads trying to hold the meat together. I focused on one and pulled it out. It was two inches long and very strong.

Maybe I’ll make a video and post it up.
