Unless you’re looking at a 4 cylinder for your Camaro, (and I doubt you are) I wouldn’t waste time on anything more than 4 speeds.
Any decent built LS will give you 500 lb-ft of torque, so launch is always gonna be an issue of traction, not torque, even with a “fuel economy” rear axle like a 3.08.
When looking for my last car I was down to the Ford Edge and the KIA Serento. I picked the KIA. I have talked with some Edge owners. They are taking them to the shop for repairs and one had to replace a transmittion. My KIA has been trouble free.
