Way to Go, Connecticut!!
We may be small in size, but we’re proving everyday how Democrats in power can screw things up.
Take heed, you big states.

It appears the DNC may have been contracted to writer the explanations for each city.

It should also be noted that there are some very safe neighborhoods in many of these cities and, in the greater metro areas, some very safe suburbs.
Notice that Buffalo, NY is ranked #18 on the list. However, AMHERST, NY, The largest and most populous suburb of Buffalo, New York, home of the Amherst campus of the University at Buffalo, has frequently been ranked as the Safest City in America (19961998, 20002003, 2010); many other years it ranks within the Top 5.
The designation is based on crime statistics for the year in six categories: murder, rape, robbery, aggravated assault, burglary, and auto theft. In 2006, Amherst was ranked the second safest city in the United States, after Brick Township, New Jersey. Most recently, it ranked 6th safest out of 400 cities in 2011.

How many would have lost money betting on Chicago topping that list, much less not even making the top 25? I guess I would have won the bet, since this did not surprise me. I was born and raised in the city of Chicago--in the city--and in my neighborhood, for instance, there was no crime whatsoever. There are lots of neighborhoods like that. The violent crime is concentrated in the ethnic enclaves of a certain demographic or two. While there are many crimes in the city, in terms of absolute numbers, because the total population is so huge, the percentage rate is relatively lower. See my post #40 on this.

#11. Birmingham, Al? My dad’s hometown, 40 minutes up the road from where I live. Never felt unsafe there. Course there are places and people you avoid especially late at night. What this list shows me is if you don’t have to live among the dregs of society and have a little common sense, then statistically you have little to worry about.

What do the cities have in common? DISPARATE IMPACT....they all have HUGE inner-city tribal parasiste black populations. . . . For example:
Detroit 83%
Jackson 79%
Birmingham 73%
Baltimore 64%
Memphis 63%
New Orleans 60%
Flint 57%

Good ol Texas didnt even make the top 25. I could have sworn that Dallas or San Antonio, Democrat bastions, would have made the list. Also many areas in Houston, I wouldn't be caught in day or night for that matter.

[...high concentration of a certain ethnic population...]
Ever watch The First 48? They show cases from all across the country and there is common thread that’s unmistakable.

Wow! Camden didnt make the top 25? Probably no more people there. You are correct. Under 100,000 population, so it doesn't qualify for this list. Likewise, e.g. Gary, Indiana.

#15 Baton RougeIf this list would have been prepared before 2005, Baton Rouge probably wouldn't even had made the Top 100. That was before the Katrina slugs infiltrated.

Oh, a word of advice about B’ham. Hanging around where there are a lot of younger blacks will get you beaten, robbed or killed. Not necessarily in that order. Call me a racist. I don't care. Rather be thought a racist than dead.
Just one of those inconvenient truths..

You speak the truth. I know the PC crowd won’t like it, but the culture of entitlement slugs and thugs is rampant in those places.

This must represent an average over the entire city.
While Bridgeport, New Haven and Hartford are nearly 100% awful, there are parts of Philadelphia that are far worse than the worst part of Bridgeport. But Philly also has some real nice parts that average it out to better.

According to a police blog (Second City Cop), that’s because Rahm & Co have hinky ways of classifying crime in order to make the numbers look better. Their accounting is so hinky that the FBI won’t even use their numbers.

I think it’s pigmentation even more than party affiliation because liberal Austin and liberal Portland are both low-crime. But that’s bound to change, as both cities are actively advertising for more “die-versity” to move to their cities! You and I, being normal people, cannot fathom the idiocy of advertising for more of a demographic with the highest crime rates of any demographic even with their small percentage of population! Oh well, I hope they get flooded with the die-versity, maybe it will lower the crime rates in some of the large urban areas in red states.
