Nowhere in the report is the quote shown in the article about 2%. This is just more lousy reporting.

That brings up a good point. Many believe sexual attraction is much more fluid then once thought. For many people they will turn gay if the other alternative is celibacy. So if a man is too feminine to get a woman he may become gay to compensate.

Here’s a quote from the abstract:

“Results: Estimates of the proportion of men who engaged in same-sex behavior differed by recall period: past year = 2.9% (95%CI, 2.6–3.2); past five years = 3.9% (3.5–4.4); ever = 6.9% (5.1–8.6). Rates on all 3 disease metrics were much higher among MSM than among either other men or women (38 to 109 times as high).”

The 2.9% is a key correction to previously higher rates. What is your point?

There was a thread earlier on FR today about a female model who was suing Getty Images because of this advertisement using an image purchased by a client for a "HIV rights campaign".

Someone correctly wondered aloud why they were using the image of a female for this campaign, since the vast majority of HIV positive patients are male.

I must say, there is something satisfying about someone suing Getty Images, who spends so much of their time going after other people.

That said, I don't think the model has a rat's chance in hell of winning, because in all likelihood, she signed a release that probably gives Getty the right to sell it to the State of New York or anyone else.

I guess it pays to read the contract. This will probably put a damper on her sex life.

That has absolutely nothing to do with the erroneous quote and incorrect headline of the article. I gave you the link to the source and the actual quote that comes form the 3rd paragraph of the report. The article is just flat out wrong.
