"When I looked in the mirror, I was disgusted with myself. My new breasts did not match my expectations and my new penis had symptoms of rejection. I do not want to be... a monster," Verhelst told Belgian newspaper Het Laatste Nieuws, referencing his double mastectomy and surgery to construct a penis last year.

So, why did it opt to check out early?

Without so much as waiting for the magnitude of the malpractice verdict? Sheesh!

I think this is the most damning part of the article. I truly can't decide what is more frightening, these statistics or the tolerance crowd in the NBC comments' section who read this and decided that this is a good thing and argue for this in the U.S. The moral degradation of society continues:

Euthanasia, the act of a doctor directly killing a patient, is becoming more popular in Belgium and the Netherlands, which along with Luxembourg have all legalized euthanasia in the past 10 years and are the only three countries in the world where the practice is legal.

Last week the Dutch government released figures showing that in 2012 there were 4,188 cases of euthanasia or assisted suicide, or almost 1 in 30 deaths, while in 2011 there were 3,695 such cases – a yearly jump of 13 percent. Most of these were by lethal injection and the majority were lethal injections given to patients in their homes.

Far fewer people are killed in this way in Belgium, but government figures released earlier this year showed 2012's total of 1,432 represented a jump of 25 percent and a tenfold increase since it was legalized in 2002.

This is not progress. This is not love. This is not compassion. And contrary to what many people believe, this is not dignity. There is nothing undignified about suffering. These people who are dying are doing it due to suffering, and instead of loving and comforting these people, doctors are killing them (sometimes with full familial support). I know sometimes that people feel like a burden on their families and/or that families hate watching their loved ones suffer, but that's not a reason to kill oneself. Life is full of good times and bad times, and while it may be hard for a family to care for a loved one and see that loved one suffer, it's what a loving family has to do. Suffering is a part of life.

This is a slippery slope into madness. First it starts off with the terminally ill, and then it moves to the chronically ill, and it then moves on to those who are depressed or like they don't fit in. There is no end, and it's all very subjective. This is the danger in getting away from the Judeo-Christian morality and the belief that our lives and rights come from a Creator, not ourselves. Judeo-Christian morality teaches that our lives were created by God and belong to God. They were made in God's image. Only God has the right to take to take human lives. We don't have the right to take either our lives or the life of another. This modern relativistic attitude towards human life is a slippery slope that can lead us down a dangerous path. These assisted suicides are on the uptick. The next step, a step which is already occuring in some of the aforementioned countries in this articles, is euthanizing those deemed suffering too much without their consent. We already are getting the unborn, now the sick and old. We're getting them on both ends now. It's evil.

Indeed. This poor person was led astray by the modern liberal movment. First this person was told that DNA and chromosones were meaningless and that she could change herself into a male. Then, when it didn’t go according to plan, did they help her? No. She died from their suicide policy. Isn’t progressivism grand?
