It’s private property, and was a permitted mural by the original store (now closed, and permitted by the new lease holder which is a restaurant).

It wasn’t the only mural she vandalized that night either.

Iconic?

To who?

Art...I thin’ that word doesn’t mean what you thin’ it means.

Is the original smiley face iconic?

Survey says, yes.

http://blogs.smithsonianmag.com/design/2013/03/who-really-invented-the-smiley-face/

It’s largely accepted that the original version of the familiar smiley face was first created 50 years ago in Worcester, Massachusetts by the late Harvey Ross Ball, an American graphic artist and ad man. Ball came up with the image in 1963 when he was commissioned to create a graphic to raise morale among the employees of an insurance company after a series of difficult mergers and acquisitions. Ball finished the design in less than 10 minutes and was paid $45 for his work....

Man, if I spray-painted every wall that talked to me, Lowes would be out of spray paint.

Austin is a liberal bastion where below average graffiti is considered art.

Austin IS The San Francisco of Texas.

Another reason for liberals NOT to move to Texas - You won’t like the TALKING FROGS. No, actually Texas frogs don’t have much of anything to say. Only an occasional squish. We often find these little flat thingies when we sweep out our driveways. And it’s not unusual to see remnants of other assorted wildlife blowing down dusty roads on windy days. PETA, eat your heart out. I repeat, liberals don’t need to move to Texas...Our buzzards have the situation under control.
