we now refer to the event that led to the forging of the United States of America as...
RevWar
= = = = = = = = = = = = = = =
If one notices (how can you miss) how the ‘Founding Fathers’ and yesterdays ‘heroes/icons’ are portrayed in -say- Presidents Day sales - as pitchmen and caricatures...
When MLK was given his ‘day’ the ‘generic warning’ went up that in 25 or so years after being given a day, one mustn’t get ‘upset’ when MLK is shown wearing a robe, a crown while ‘pimping’ a MLK Day sale or event.
Of course ‘we’ have WWI and WWII (that be WW EYE and WW EYE EYE” kind of like the ‘joke’ of the Roman walking into a bar holding up two fingers and saying “gimmee five beers”.

You just know there will have to be a homosexual love affair in it somewhere.
I had great hopes for Black Sails on Starz. Not only girl on girl but lousy writing too. The season finale was the best written episode of the bunch.

I am hoping! At least some of the filming was done here in Richmond and a couple of my friends are extras. I sent in an application, but I am too old for the specific position they were looking to fill.

Thanks Pharmboy. He knew what he was doing, no wonder so many didn't "get him" at the time.

It’s common speak even amongst absolute nuts, reenactors and so on. Definitely easier in writing when everyone knows what it is.
How about this: AmRevWar. That covers every short version.

My ancestor, Abraham Hunt, was entertaining the British generals at his home while Washington was crossing the Potomac. A message came for one of the British generals, but was never delivered at the house. I wonder if he was a spy.

Burn Gorman was creepily amazing in The Hour. Looking forward to this!
To: Pharmboy
Well I’m glad it’s not based on “The Secret Six”. You’d think that Brian Kilmeade had invented this story!
To: afraidfortherepublic
Indeed. If he had not flogged it so unmercifully (and continues to do so) it would have been so much more impressive.

"Based on Alexander Roses book Washingtons Spies, AMCs TURN tells the untold story of Americas first spy ring. A historical thriller set during the Revolutionary War, TURN centers on Abe Woodhull (Jamie Bell), a farmer living in British-occupied Long Island who bands together with his childhood friends to form the Culper Ring -- an unlikely team of secret agents who not only went on to help George Washington turn the tide of the war but also gave birth to modern spycraft. Didn't Brian Kilmeade also write that book?

Yes...there have been several books about this. Kilmeade got the publicity, and he and his co-author have done a reasonable job. This series was planned way before he thought of writing his book. I believe it is still on the NYT’s bestseller list.

Odd. I’m reading a book by Brian Kilmeade:
“George Washington’s Secret Six: The Spy Ring That Saved The American Revolution”.
