No, I’ll have to check that out. Sounds beautiful.
I understand Ferrari mandates some repairs be done only at the factory. Any idea of the rate?
Many, many years ago I saw a listing of a GT-40 (or two) for sale. Some guy bought it and made it street legal. He even had to reinforce the body/fenders to make it hold up. It was very expensive, IIRC.
“Parts is parts.”
What was that old commercial? Kind of like “Where’s the beef?”
Ferraris too, especially when it came to parts and labor rates. I passed at the time.
me too you prolly knew my older sister a yes titos was the place owjh yup went there too
Tough to crawl out of that car in a normal parking space, though, with the way the doors wrap into the roof. My dream garage would still have one, though - right next to a Cobra Daytona Coupe and a Lamborghini Miura.
We are apparently contemporaries....
I started working for FoMoCo in 1973.
Out at Livernois Engineering (who were supplying “Garage Services”) there were a number of GT40s hanging out in the corners.
At the (Engine) Dynamometer Lab lobby were a couple of DOHC LeMan engines on display stands.
Emission controls were the order of the day for my times there (A 2.3L engine, auto trans and axle were occupying the LeMan durability cell - one dyno for each end of the axle) and so the great feats of the past were but (recent) legend....
I have a Carpenters’ Album with Karen and her brother sitting in her GTO.
AINT THAT BEAUTIFUL.
I think they are out of North Carolina and they maybe from South Africa. You wont be disappointed.
Today I'd spend my money on a highly capable winter street ride.
Nah. (grin)
“I worked at Hughs Aircraft for a bit in 1969-72. Very close by was TRACOR, engine builder for many Can-Am teams. We often could hear them dyno testing at night. What a sound.”
Can-Am, those were the days. Nothing like a constructive work environment. (grin)
I’ll take one of those and a Porsche 917K.
Saw one in metallic blue (917K) at the NY Auto Show in 1971 when I was 9 years old. I looked at it for what seemed like an eternity. Even Craig Breedlove’s Blue Flame rocket car couldn’t get my attention. LOL
Well, I did just see the movie “Lemans” at the time.
