What about the paper straws we all used as kids?
Yeah. Riiiiiiight!
I’m a denier, but I carefully separate my trash. I suspect it all goes to the same landfill anyway!
What’s wrong with you? Don’t you understand trendy and cool??
Paper straws are smart wouldn’t expect an enviromentalist to suggest one would you.
Instead of glass straws, with with Osama “voters” will injure themselves, and subsequently sue, if plastic straws are that evil, why not just ban straws altogether and make people drink with their face.
Clarice Feldman over at American Thinker declared 2014 to be the “Year of Peak Stupidity.” Seems 2015 is off to a great start, however.
Glass straws...let the lawsuits begin. Lawyers the world over are salivating over that invention.
I always liked the way glass bottle parts would decorate the beaches in the carribean (st. Vincent) It seemed appropriate for the glass to slowly be ground back near it’s original home.
..sound like upscale cocaine straws, if you ask me...
i throw it all in the same bag. They can sort it if they want. (and the technology is available to do it)
Why not have thick plastic straws? If the point is to reuse them it’d be cheaper than glass and longer shelf life. Also not likely to be broken and injure someone.
Environmentalists... Always looming for a half added solution to a minor problem.
how in the world did humanity survive before the invention of the straw? wasn’t it impossible to drink?
Aren’t glass straws used to smoke crack? Remember when McDonald’s had to redesign their plastic coffee spoons because addicts were using them to cook heroin?
Surfers go stuff it up your backside!!!
They were using it to scoop out cocaine. It was a perfect measuring tool for it.
As is, environmentalists hate that the poor’s have something they don’t like. They liked the old days before plastics when stuff was expensive and seldom wasted.
Even hard plastic straws can really damage your teeth. I have one of those plastic cups that came with its own hard straw, and if I lift it fast and mindlessly, it stabs into my front teeth painfully. Paper or the usual thin plastic is best. I can’t even imagine all the hazards connected with glass.

Crackpipes...
If the frozen drink beverage is too thick to slurp with a paper straw, how about using a metal spoon?
I deal in antiques and old stuff.
I once came upon a box of old medical items. One was a box of what looked like glass straws. They were glass catheters.... the edges were not smooth.
OUCH..
I would suggest a more radical idea........ how about no straw?
