I LOVE IT!!!!! My recent rides have been Expedition, Suburban(BEST EVER, drove it to Alaska), a flock of pickups and a handful of motorcycles.
The Prius manual is over an inch thick, all English, mostly computer stuff.
Not fast, about like a loaded pickup.
2,000 miles and averaging 50 MPG. The worse the traffic jam, the better the MPG! I think the MPG drops off over 65 mph.
Did I mention that I LOVE THE PRIUS!
You all are brutal. Did I mention that I hate the Prius?
Eeewh. They are so ugly.
So what does your husband drive?
Had one for 3 1/2 years now - averaging 55-60 mpg in the summers and 48-55 in the winters (I can tell you the week the fuel blend changes). Around 80,000 miles on it currently with no issues of any kind. It’s a commute car.
I averaged 65 mpg throughout a full 10 gallon tank of gas once the first year by carefully monitoring my acceleration after stopping. Basically just wanted to see if I could do it. Actually a little more as I pulled in for a refill with about 657 miles on the dial between fill ups.
My dream vehicle would be a diesel 8-cylinder hybrid pickup. Why? The diesel gets the best steady speed highway mileage, the 8-cylinder gets me the power when needed, and the hybrid has the best mileage in city/stop and go.
My daughter has one. I thought she was crazy to buy it but she had a very long commute. She had it shipped here to Maui. I absolutely adore this car.
I can get a well-equipped, much more powerful, much larger, more comfortable car for $8k less than a prius.
Mileage greatly fluctuates on depending on driving... but it would take me about 17 years to break even by saving money on gas mileage if I bought a lesser performing, smaller prius.
Just don’t make sense.
...and I don’t give a crap about emissions, so that angle does not apply.
My future hot rod projects thank you for generously setting aside more fuel for me. Your contribution is noted and shall be rewarded.
My golf diesel runs rings around the Prius.
My mileage is 47 to 50.
And I get bonos just for that diesel lug lug lug
I crap turds bigger than a Prius.
I just checked with a friend who sells Toyotas. I can drive off with a Corolla L for about $18k versus $24k for a Prius 2.
That means I would have to drive the vehicle 200,000 miles and not average more than $3.50 per gallon to break even at 50 mpg versus 35 mpg.
Depending on how one drives and how far, it might make sense or it might not. Likely not.
Well, I bought a used Avalon, and I’m lovin’ it. Great gas mileage, great pick up/handling AND drives like your on a cloud.
I’d consider one if I did a lot of city driving. But its probably not worth it at this time, what with the price of gas cratering.
And Im loving my used 2010 Ford Flex
I still prefer to eat meat.
You know, when you are at a light and rev it up, it sounds a lot like “Imgay”, not “varoom”
Maybe the Prius V is better, but I had a Prius as a rental car on a business trip last year and it sucked. The fuel ecomomy got a lot worse above 60mph, but it really didn’t want to drive that fast and you had to stick your foot into it and listen to it complain. Overall it felt like a typical $14000 economy car except they start a bit over $23k.
