"What is your major malfunction snowflake...?"

Isn't it amazing how you still remember your Drill Sergeants?!
Talk about having an impact on a person's life. Mine was "Drill Sergeant Sheridan" at Fort Ord. Many, many moons ago.

I think that’s one person everyone remembers. My DI was a good guy but he both scared the pee out of us and any tiny bit of praise put us on the top of the world.
Your first grade teacher and first front line supervisor would be others. Interestingly, they all helped give us self discipline and a work ethic.

Bad phrasing on my part, I'm the father of a Soldier...! I meant to say I salute your sacrifice, from one father to another. No problem, just busting your chops. I always think of "Soldier" in the larger sense, not just a branch of service. Back in my college days I did my share of protesting. But it was never disrespectful or hateful. And I'd like to think we weren't too stupid. But that was back when the Vietnam conflict was sucking up a lot of young people. What is their problem today?

Isn't it amazing how you still remember your Drill Sergeants?!Not having been in the military, the closest I've been to that was a Nun who taught me in third of fourth grade. The one with a 5 o'clock shadow. Looked like Danny DeVito's mother in "Throw Momma From the Train" (Anne Ramsey), in a batman outfit.
