Fake but real.

They have setup 10 as a drive by install, allowing anyone to simply click OK.

Here at our company we have over 1000 computers and half have been infected with Windoze 10....

Wish our IT deoartment would lock down the browers.

I run Windows 7 via Parallels on my Mac. It’s really nice.

I despise the tile things so I install Classic Shell for the same look and feel of Windows 7.

I just installed Windows 8.1 on a MBP (again, Parallels) and it was really nice to know that during the install you could configure it to have the look and feel of Windows 7 - a nice surprise!

Good luck to you on your computing.

I have Windows 8. Still trying to figure out the benefits of going Windows 10.

I have been asking that since they wanted me to switch from XP to Vista and besides "It's the Newest Thing Stop living in the past" and yo mama jokes, I haven't heard a real answer from the Microsoft salesmen and fanboys who spam these threads.

That did not happen to me, but that’s just one data point.

You know, when I’m feeling nostalgic, I look back on my best time with Microsoft (IBM) DOS. Seriously.

Man, if I had the options back then, that I have now.....

Best thing that ever happened to Jobs, was to go wander in the wilderness for a number of years. Then he came back to Apple with UNIX! A command line at last! Not to mention a pretty face when you don’t feel like tinkering under the hood.

That happened on a computer where I had limited disk space left because I was in the middle of reorganizing my backup data. Windows install was turned off, but 10 attempted to install anyway! What a load of crap! Naturally it ran out of space and crashed the system, leaving behind many Gb of $ temp directories and unmovable hidden files that prevented the system from being usable in any way. I had to do a lot of digging to find out how to clean the $ files out without having to reformat the drive and reinstall win7.

Yep, not surprised to hear that. That’s how Microsoft is getting their good download numbers.

It forced me to spend $50 to clone my 700 Gb drive to a 1 Tb drive just in case MS decides to pull that trick again. I heard they stopped doing that, but they can’t be trusted. Cheaper to spend the $50 than to get stuck again with my prmary laptop disabled.

I went ahead and uploaded. 32% now. Been almost an hour.

Have a week to get over the learning curve.

Why does MS want people on 10 so bad that they’ll give it away. I question their motive.

I updated an eight year old Dell 32 bit Laptop with a few little problems. Once I went back and did a clean W10 install everything is fine. You will lose your Windows dvd player with the clean install. There are other options.

The usual anti-Windows FR posters must be having a dismal time after this news. :-) ... Just a little jab. Don't flame me!

It's actually quite impressive that MS has one OS that runs on more than half of the PCs in existence. Add to that the fact that Win 8/8.1, XP, and 10 each run on more devices than MacOS and all other PC OS's combined.

...my household currently has Win 7, Win 8.1, Win 10, and Linux Mint (Cinnamon) running as primary OSs. If I count the VMs too, I have Kali Linux and a SIFT Workstation (Ubuntu).

It’s worth for personal PC but, I don’t like inconsistent OS’s in the enterprise and Microsoft encourages drive by down loads with their “Oh No!!! Upgrade to Windoze 10, before something terrible happens”.

Then, well meaning people download it and make personal changes they shouldn’t be allowed to.

What a stupid not-a-news-story. Windows XP is declining. You can’t get new XP machines and the old ones are dying or being upgraded. Windows 10 is growing. Windows 10 updates are being pumped by constant reminders that it is free for a limited time. If you buy a new computer it will be Windows 10 unless it is a Mac or Chromebook. Making a pie chart is not news.
Business Insider is not business and not insider. They got a cool domain name and that is all. Otherwise they are as liberal as Huffington Post and the New York Times.
I have 10 computers, 8 desktop and 2 laptops. They all run Windows 7 and every time I boot them up I have to decline an offer for a free upgrade to Windows 10. When Windows 7 dies I will switch to Mac.
