Thought it was dead.
Glad it isn’t.
Thanks!

jeep bump
For one thing I live in an area where I have to smog the vehicle. Getting it to pass every year was a pain. Also, I live at 5,000 foot elevation and am often over 8,000 feet with trips to close to 10,000 feet. Modern gasoline boils out of the carb bowl vent at operating temps and over about 8,500 feet. FI is a very good solution and I NEVER have to tweak it.
Nope that was one that just never caught my eye.
‘Course I never looked past the cover so who knows.
Road Trip!!! I call shot gun. I love my Jeep.
Great Video,
Thanks
I tend to agree, but the gasoline available these days is no friend to old-style carbureted fuel systems. You can update the rubber line - the Gates stuff with the green stripe will endure ethanol blends. You might find a carburetor that can be rebuilt to tolerate E10 as well (it'll probably be a Holley). The mechanical fuel pump, though - that can be a problem. At the very least, a quiet, low-pressure in-line electric fuel pump would be a wise move, for daily-driver reliability.
Don't forget to run high ZDDP "break-in" type motor oil in those older engines, too - the generic stuff these days is formulated for roller-style valve lifters.
Thanks for mentioning the fuel pump(I’d neglected to upgrade that). My Holleys handle the E10 fine. Long term fuel storage can be a problem. My Jeep is no longer a daily driver. I converted it to dual-fuel and as it always runs on propane, no matter how long it has been, I tend to neglect the gas system.(I’m trying to do better).
I know that diesel fuel has ample ZDDP, but it has too much detergent. I wonder if a mix of both diesel and gasoline oils would be suitable.
Be careful with Diesel engine oils, some of them have lower zinc additive levels now - even the Rotella T. Before I rebuilt my last flat-tappet engine and upgraded to hydraulic roller cam and lifters, I was adding a bottle of Valvoline Synpower additive or GM EOS (Engine Oil Supplement) at each oil change.
shoot i forgot about the jeep threads. Thanks
If anyone can provide me info on how many transmission sensor switches is in a 2004 WJ, I will be thankful. I bought one but apparently my mechanic said there are 2 and mine didn;t fit. WTF?!
That is entirely toooo cool!
He much prefers to ride in the back :)
