Resettozero:
"What you projected onto me is hereby returned to YOU..." I merely pointed out that on Free Republic, inappropriate use of the pejorative "Nazi" makes the person using it appear less than worthy.
I did not "project" that word on you, FRiend, you used it on your own against SunkenCiv -- an unforced error on your part, not mine.

Nothing I've posted is "untrue", and you are welcome to dispute whatever seems so to you.
That is untrue, for the reason I posted which you chose to ignore completely in your response.
To: BroJoeK
I merely pointed out that on Free Republic...
You did much more than "point out" in your post to me, and in which you completely ignore in this response to me, preferring quote a post I made to another FReeper. Via such lame efforts ("merely") to justify yourself, you are still insulting me and others who disagree with your points-of-view.
To: BroJoeK
Resettozero: "I should have posted '...bigoted science Nazi'..."
BroJoeK: Still inappropriate, and I won't give you advice on name-calling, but..."
But then you do, inappropriately.

Those peddling ignorance get irritating, dont they?
They sometimes do.
To: Resettozero
Waters and lands have been "rearranged" in times of colossal cataclysms since man first appeared full-hatched. That's what always gets me when the say "it was found in a strata millions of years old". That strata maybe only thousands, or even hundreds of years old, and was then reburied much deeper due to one of those cataclysms.

You’re WAY out of line, pal. That’s a ZOT-worthy attack. You owe SunkenCiv an apology.

Apologize for calling him a bigoted science Nazi after his insulting several posters including telling me to "scram"? Like, hell NO!
Jim...? Time to go?
To: Resettozero; SunkenCiv
You called SunkenCiv an unmodified Nazi, and continuing to do so with a “modifier” on it (as if that somehow makes it better) remains despicable and beyond the pale.
This is a simple thread on an archeological article entitled “may be” (hence no definitive conclusion on the subject matter). SunkenCiv has posted or pinged folks to thousands of these over the years and it is greatly appreciated by many. Throwing out vile names because you disagree with the subject or content in a theology vs. science flamewar is not appreciated. As a Christian, I’m offended by it. As I said, you owe him an apology.

Have you read this thread or only parts of it?
Your over-the-top reaction to one post is telling.
To: Resettozero
You started this. Have some common courtesy and apologize for your despicable comment.

No, it is you who has jumped in the ring not knowing what the match-up is. Won't answer my questions so neither will I grant your demand. Back off.
To: SunkenCiv
Wasn't complaining about your posting of it, my FRiend! But,
the article, itself leaves much to be desired.
Just from looking at the photo of their work, the investigators are apparently doing a serious, controlled, careful job of excavation. (Look at the "runners on sandbags" -- placed to keep workers' feet from damaging the excavated surface of that level)
At least, the article provides a starting hint for searching for better information on the site -- which I'll gladly share with you -- if I find it.
Of course, being a lithicist, I want to see photos of what are claimed to be tools, so I can understand the level of lithic technology (if any) involved.
Most sites of that possible antiquity yield only a few potential tools; an assemblage of fifty (50) is a real, potential "information bonanza"!
~~~~~~~~~~
Some questions that should be asked of claimed "tools" of that antiquity:
- Are they (natural) "geofacts" instead of (man-made) "artifacts"?
- Did the users knock off a flake -- and use the sharp flake as a tool?
- Is there use-wear on the "tools"?
- Were the flakes further modified with additional flake removals ("retouch")?
- Were the flakes removed at the habitation site -- or at a flint source (identified?) somewhere else -- and "lugged in"?
- Are the "cores" from which flakes were detached still in the assemblage -- and did they have more than one flake removed from them?
- Are there instances of "cores" with multiple flake removals -- placed so as to produce an edge (making the core a possible tool, itself)?
- Were any "tools used for making tools" (hammerstones) in that 50 piece assemblage?
- etc., etc., etc...
~~~~~~~~~
I'll keep looking for info. That site may (or not) be an informational bonanza.
That particular article, OTOH, was not -- but what should we expect from today's "journalists"...? '-)
~~~~~~~~~
Apologies for making it seem as if I were critical of you for posting it! That was not my intent!
Your behavior in this thread is un-Christian. Ironic, given that you were attempting to attack the poster from a religious point of view. You do not speak for this Christian.
To: fieldmarshaldj; Resettozero; SunkenCiv
"You do not speak for this Christian." Nor for this Christian -- who is also a physical scientist -- and an archaeologist. (See #74, above...)
Not true, to the first. As for the second, so be it.
(You really haven't read this whole thread, have you, dj? If you had, you would realize you are confusing some of my posts with another poster. Were you called in as some representative of some bully pulpit? Or just came on your own as a bully?)
To: minnesota_bound
I bet all of you that are arguing that if you were in the same cave as these tools and each had a stone hammer.....WHAM! BAM!
This would explain why man did not progress as much as he could if only the forum rules were enforce way back when.
Instead there was chaos and man was set back time and again. : )
To: minnesota_bound
No, minnesota-bound; I and a few others in the minority on this thread would already have been injured or murdered by the quasi-science zealots.
