Yes we own a 2015 Prius V, and I love it! My wife only me to allows me to it drive under direct supervision, for fear that I might use the POWER mode. Drove Suburbans and pickups forever. I LOVE THE PRIUS!

The Sub we drove to Alaska was the BEST EVER, but in a few years may move to the #2 spot?

Yes, I would drive the ALCAN in our Prius, but avoid the Cassier.

Below is a list of MSRP battery cost details for the various hybrid Toyota models offered since 2001.

2001-2003 Toyota Prius (1st generation) - $3,649
2004-2009 Toyota Prius (2nd generation) - $3,939
2010-2011 Toyota Prius (3rd generation) - $4.080
2012-2015 Toyota Prius Liftback - $3,939
2012-2016 Toyota Prius V - $3,939
2012-2016 Toyota Prius C - $3,807
2007-2011 Toyota Camry Hybrid - $4,892
2012-2015 Toyota Camry Hybrid - $4,892
2013-2015 Toyota Avalon Hybrid - $4,892
2006-2010 Toyota Highlander Hybrid - $6,198
2011-2015 Toyota Highlander Hybrid - $6,353

Each of these prices will be reduced by a $1,350 “core credit” for the old battery pack being replaced, which the dealer then recycles through a long-established Toyota program.

I just paid between 4 & 6 THOUSAND dollars for a battery, but WOW I get $1,350 back! It’s almost free. /s

Once these batteries start failing these cars will be worth ZERO and they will become the new Edsel.

It used to be the most expensive thing to replace in your car was an engine or transmission, now it’s the BATTERY!

It’s not the Prius, it’s the smug, of which there is plenty in the article. I don’t care what kind of car a person drives, but anybody that smug has earned a punch in the face. Oh and also the lack of acceleration, I don’t know if it’s the car or the drivers but I’ve seen many a Prius get blown off the line by laden 10 wheelers. Getting stuck behind them sucks.

I find your owning a Pious is a micro-aggression against my owning an ICE powered car.

If the only reason you buy a car is to get you from Here to There, then I guess a Prius makes sense. But for me, a car is something more. It is a public statement of how I feel about myself, the pride I take in my accomplishments, and the presence I want to project to others on the road.

Which is why I'd take a Ferrari over a BMW over a Camaro over a Nissan over a Mini over a Prius.

Back in 2001 we lived in Orange Cty, Ca. and were having to drive up to Hollywood and the LA area on a very regular basis. Went to the Toyota dealer to look at the new Echo. When we got there they bent our arm every which way to instead buy the new world saving Prius.

Let me see,,,,,,,,,,,,, Prius,,,, $22,000 and the Echo $12,000. WE drove out in the Echo. The car got great mileage,,,, for 2 years. The new ???I think, variable valve timing, must have went on the blink because the mileage went from 37-42 down to 27 period!!!!! Took it back to the Toyota dealer and they said it ran fine. Sold it and bought a 2003 Mini Cooper. Last car I ever got a speeding ticket with. :<))) Never looked at another Toyota.

I really don't care that I catch all kinds of criticism for buying a Toyota Prius

Would you expect criticism for selecting strawberry ice cream?

The Prius is among the many possible selections available to fit the transportation needs of many people. Some will select Prius and some will not select a Prius. We may assume that many people are as pleased with their selections as your wife is with her selection.

And I forgot to add that I assume we all have seen the stats when a BMW 325 and Prius are put out on a race track and told to drive at 65 the BMW will get better gas mileage.

Other vehicles have a similar problem. For example, I drive a Subaru and am considered a flaming liberal lesbian on occasion in these parts.

Actually, I am a flaming liberal lesbian. But there's no need to assume that.

The Toyota battery has a 100K mile warranty. Replacement cost for the battery is $4,000.

If I bought a Prius, I'd get rid of it before it hits 100K miles.

"I would wager that even if you're someone who bleeds Ferrari red and has bones made from old Chevrolet Camaros, you would consider buying a Prius..."

Don't bet real money, because you'd lose that wager, tree hugger. I will never drive, let alone love your commie peoplemobile.

t also makes you a better citizen: You embrace the speed limit.

And have no power to get out of the way of someone who is not.

Sorry.

I'll stick with gas or diesel.

I don’t have a problem with people who own a TOYOTA Prius. Good for them. I have a problem with those environmentalist wacko, “Prius owners” who refer to the car they supposedly own as being a HONDA Prius.

Never heard of a Prius Hater. Is that the new Boogieman?

The only issue I have against any Electric or Hybrid Vehicle is the Tax Credit given out by the Government, Federal and State to those who purchase one.

The Car Company benefits and the person who chooses to Buy or Lease the Car benefits. The Taxpayer, not so much.

I don’t work and pay Taxes so somebody else can make a Down Payment on a Car using my Money.

I do not care what anyone else chooses to spend THEIR OWN MONEY on. Not my problem until the Government makes it my problem.
