“I might not call it phony [outrage], but I would call it misplaced.”

Thank you.

I can’t see images with this browser. Just text. And I apologize to the Coca Cola company.

FRegards ....

This is no different from the coke displays that look like American flags or soldiers. Only Muslim’s and democrats would be offended by this.

Not outraged, but who the heck wants to take any to mess up the display?

You may call it anything you want. But I pity anyone (this is not addressed to you specifically) who cannot understand the extreme bad taste in using the worst terrorist attack in the USA to sell a product. If Walmart had been sincere, the sign over the display could have been strung near the entranceway without a tacky reconstruction of the Twin Towers with coke cases. The mind boggles!

It must be up there with the opening number of Springtime for Hitler - only not funny.

You might want to rethink that statement.

I find it in extremely poor taste to attach the horror of 9/11 and the murder of 3000 people to a sales display. It is no different than the displays we see during the Super Bowl, World Series or other “ big game” events.

The banner is fine. I would have no issue with the banner hanging in front of the store. Attaching it to a sales display in hopes people will buy a product is repugnant.

Next year will we see 9/11 Blowout Sales just as we do on President's Day?

9/11. My outrage has never lessened.

Outrage unwarranted. People are too easily outraged at things or situations that aren’t outrageous.

So basically, you are saying that no commercial entity can use any imagery of 911 in commemoration? Help me out here, I am trying to think of such use of imagery that I would find offensive, I am not saying its not possible, maybe I am just not seeing it here.

They might have had good intentions, and probably didn’t have bad intentions.

I can see school kids building models or maps of Pearl Harbor a decade after.....yikes....that would be ME.

Commercial entities can do anything they want regarding 9/11. But they should be prepared for genuine hurt feelings in seeing a searing event used to sell a product and the accompanying blowback.

I think it was done with good intentions but if I was the store manager I probably would not have done this becaus it’s more of a somber day, not celebratory.

I’ll go a step further and even say it is a nice, well intended gesture. Cheesy, for sure, but well intended.

Outraged that Walmart is displaying patriotism?

Shaking my head in disbelief.

I joined FR in the aftermath of 9/11 because of the genuine shock and outrage and hurt expressed by members here. It seems we’ve come full circle in which people now just see 9/11 as another lousy day in America and, hey, if you can sell something, why not?

And I’m not a muslim or a democrat.

The display would be alright, except for the Rollback $3.33 stuck right between what is suppose to be the twin towers.
