I haven’t made the break into a tablet yet. I would probably just buy an elcheapo to try it it out.
Oh, OK, I misinterpreted your post. My last computer was a desktop. I got a wide screen laptop as a replacement and have been happy. I’s a little large, but when I take it with me, I’m not disappointed.
Any Windows laptop under $500 is junk (or will soon be). Spend a bit more, get a larger screen like 15 to 17 inches (you’ll be glad you did), with more memory (16gb min) and an SSD inside rather than a mechanical hard drive, and a fast processor(s). Go cheap, get burned.
I have a blue tooth keyboard that is built in to a protective cover. When I have to do writing, it works fine. They are out there.
I also suggest you consider a chrome book.
If you’ve never downloaded a program or purchased software to install on your computer, it will do everything you need to do.
I recommend them to friends who often have to bring their computers to me to clean up the viruses, adware and misc crap that brings their systems down. Chrome OS keeps itself up to date and isn’t vulnerable to viruses.
They are low cost but very capable. I’m using an ASUS flip 10.1 inch. The touch screen flips entirely around to allow use as a tablet or laptop.
It comes with many extensions to do word processing, spreadsheets and so forth.
There are thousands of extensions that cover an amazing range of needs. Soon newer chrome books will also run android apps.
Check out reviews online to see if one would meet your needs.
Yeah, me too but the real issue with the Bluetooth is that the devices do not use batteries but must be plugged up. If you have to charge all three while travelling they become very problematic.
Given that you can get a smallish i5 laptop that has probably 4 times the RAM and 100 times the storage for less money why would anyone buy one of the semi tablets? The laptops do more cost less, accept more accessories and are easier to use.
It also came with pre-installed spyware.
“I had a Lenovo Yoga...”
Well now it’s spying on 4 year-old singing alphabet songs.
Seems to be working about as good as my much more expensive laptop.
I’m considering a 4GB 13” SSD with backlit keys. Not sure I want to go as big as 13”. I’ll be using it primarily for travel and light use at home. I have a 21” desk top as my primary.
Asus Transformer.
Around $399
Can be had with Win10 (if you must)
Can be had with Linux or Android.
Good quality and price.
ASUS 10.1 Transformer Mini T102HA-D4-GR, 2 in 1 Touchscreen Laptop, Intel Quad-Core, 128GB SSD
Thanks. How long have you it? Any problems with connectivity to the keyboard or excessive ‘play’(movement) between the keyboard & tablet?
