Because the story is funny from my point of view. It shows perfectly the growing ethnological gap between Europe and the US.

BTW - In German terms I am very conservative.

The US presence does not serve to our German security since Ramstein is simply a hub for your global operations. Therefore wie are always involved into your wars that are literal not our business. I would be happy to get rid of this as soon as possible and I am not the only one.

imagine if we had exchange students within the US - what would happen if say a girl from Santa Monica or Manhattan went to high school for a year in rural Kentucky.

I’m thinking she’d be just as arrogant in the beginning as this smug Berliner.

I once asked a German colleague who did a high school year in some tiny town in PA what was it like ? He answered in his best imitation of Western PA drawl:

“didn’t learn too much from books, but I can now rebuild a 2-barrel carburetor on a Chevy 289; roll a perfect joint; and know the lyrics to every AC-DC by heart”

We are bovine? This is probably why we and the asians boosted your impotent industries to dust in the passing years and Detroit passed into a desert??! Simply look into CIA-factbook who are the exporters. This are the places where the important things are invented and produced. Buhuhaha!

Funny stuff ^^^^

The exchange student from my senior year in 1972-73 is a Facebook friend and he came from Turkey. He now lives in Nice, France, having had a global career. He came to a class reunion this past summer. He is a regular poster on internal Turkish politics and is anti-Erdogan, along with being very anti-refugee as he can clearly see what it is doing to Europe. In short, he is one of the most well-informed people I know and is also very conservative, even posting pro-Trump pieces occasionally. I can't say if this is because of his one-year dip into middle America small-town life or not. But it certainly didn't hurt...

Nice got a real good dose of the effects of Islamic immigration this Summer, about a month after I was there this year. I probably passed that section of the Promenade de Anglais a dozen times in the week I was there, and I spent a lot of time a klick or two west of the section where the truck attack occurred.

I notice you didn’t respond to 13 or 19. For such a cosmopolitan thinker, you seem to be studiously ignoring the history and RealPolitik pointed out there.

The presence of NATO props up the value of the dollar.

Without it the dollar would plummet.

That’s why we have a military presence all over the globe.

And once again, they will send themselves and Europe into an abyss.

And this time, the get to KEEP France!

Sorry, but this is practically a declaration of bankruptcy and would mean that you live from the stolen wealth of other nations???!

Keeping France? Well beside the fact that the French have 200 nuclear warheads or more (this could get nasty) a occupation of France would be as idiotic as the occupation of Iraq i.e.. It simply costs money. We Europeans occupied practically everything and never made a real profit from it.

I would phrase it “The standard of living of Americans is directly related to our ability to project our power across the globe”.

And yes, it is a “declaration of bankruptcy”.
