It’s a moot point as the Trump team campaigned to win the Electoral College and not the popular vote. If they had targeted the popular vote they would have visited many different places instead of choosing the strategy they did.

As Limbaugh pointed out, the democratic stronghold lies only in certain counties on the left and right coast.

Actually, to clarify what I wrote, fraudulent votes do get added to the national total as well, but they don’t really “count” in choosing the President.

I read that some states will NOT count them if they can’t change the results of the election.

Great point.

That's a real strong argument for the Electoral College.

You are very CORRECT and that, I believe, is one of the reasons the Founders devised this system. Given that in 1789 the States were in the horse era with communications limited to that speed, each state would find it near impossible to do a complete count and get it to the National Capitol on time, even given the old inaugural date in March. Having the Electoral College short-circuits that problem and allows for a clear vote.

Now, with our trans-continental (and Hawaii plus Alaska) the problem, even with light-speed communications, is compounded! Imagine this election on the popular vote and we can plainly see that it would still be undecided! Add disputed and provisional ballots, and you just add time to the problem. Then from that morass, you, in this kind of close election, have the legion of lawyers and interested parties challenging the 'official' results in the courts, from State to Federal!

Thus, we could end up with year+ election campaigns AND equally long disputatious decision cycles. NO! NEVER! Once again we must THANK the Founders for their GENIUS and foresight! Vox populi, diputatis eternalis! (Latin sounding, not real)

It doesn’t really matter.

In most states the absentee ballots will not be counted, unless the number of vote differential is smaller than the number of absentee ballots.

Trump won the Electoral college by a wide margin.

Clinton probably won the popular vote in the swing states by a decent margin.

Trump will be elected President. Clinton will not.

This morning on Fox & Friends four women were arguing about the anti-Trump protests following the election. On liberal stated emphatically Hillary won the popular vote by 2 million. She was not challenged by the Fox newsreaders.

Arizona is still counting, so are several other states.

It may never be possible to know for sure. Some states (like California) don’t bother to count absentee votes unless the margin of victory is less than the number of remaining ballots.

I have heard this argument as well. However, I'm not sure that it is valid. Wouldn't a ballot have to be counted if ANY issue on the ballot, not the just the presidential line, might be affected? It would seem rare that there wouldn't be at least one closely contested issue on the ballot that would trigger the count. I assume if a ballot is counted, all lines would be tallied.

Judging by past practice, most states won’t finalize and certify vote counts for weeks, maybe as late as December 13 when states have to officially name Electors.

The Federal Election Commission did not publish the final national archives vote totals for 2012 until several months into 2013, IIRC.

Right. If the NYTimes says Clinton won the popular vote, then you can be pretty sure that Trump won it.

Not to mention, we know they cheated which means they created out of thin air thousands and thousands of phony votes for Hillary. Trump destroyed her.

The count continues.

A closely related issue: Are you asking for a raw vote total that includes illegals, or would you like a total with only the votes of citizens?

The fact that California vote was so badly compromised by their illegal vote means she did not win by anywhere close to that 2.6 mil. We have a huge problem in liberal states and parts of Florida that need fixing by the next election or liberals and globalist will own this country.

Official results haven’t been published by the Federal Election Commission yet.

Freepers are going to have to come to grips with the fact that Trump did not win the popular vote. Now, we can complain about fraud, illegals, whatever.

But that really ignores the larger issue that we left WAY too many votes at home. If Romney left 4 million out, Trump had the opportunity to bring in another six million.

Don’t know if it was the tape, if it was Johnson (who hurt badly in AZ and NH and NM, and McMuffin in MN and UT) but we need to stop with the dance here and admit reality and fix it next time.

There’s no reason Trump couldn’t get more than 62 million votes.
