It’s not unresolved
People were always pretty sure who did it
And except for this woman as a contributor they are all dead
It ain’t like OJ where we’re all still out looking for the killers
Had Milam the principal accused killer lived a longer life I’m sure some Kihn Grisham novel style AUSA would have reopened the case in the 90s but he died in 1980
This article is just usual media obsession with bad white folks
This stuff will get louder as the white majority pushes back against extiction
I feel sorry for the blacks that follow Obama as a Messiah.
Whites too.
The Man is a race baiting charlatan
Trump is a straight shooter
What does your post have to do with Emmett Till?
This woman admitted to lying about being assaulted.
An INNOCENT young boy, BRUTALLY died, because she lied and others with your attitude.
I did a paper on Till and Schwerner and Goodman and Cheney and Viola Liuzzo and Vernon Dahmer
1970 in eighth grade and it was emotional
That rose colored glasses view of the injustices of that era has sure long since faded for me
I see my hometown and its heart breaking
Good intentions need to be thoroughly thought out
From everything I ever read, he did (there were a number of witnesses who said he whistled at her and made some inappropriate comments). However, the response was way, way out of proportion to what he did. Seems like he was just a cocky kid from elsewhere whose behavior didn't take local culture into account.
It would be roughly equivalent to walking down the street in certain urban areas wearing a MAGA hat, though I suspect the outrage would be much less.
They cut the boys balls off, they mutilated and tortured him.
Hmmm sounds liked ISIS
Let them all eat justice
What ever happened to those blacks that tortured the disabled white guy?
The current runs deep, the secret is to shoot the rapids
But its hard to turn the tide
Tim Tyson, according to some people who know him, is not always accurate in his portrayal of people or events.
I don’t know about this book, but I live in the county where his previous book took place and I know people who supported his book and others who questioned his memory of events and his motives for writing the it.
I didn’t live here when the shooting occurred, I moved here about 30 years after but I know people who did live here when it happened and trust them when they urged caution on believing all he wrote.
White housewife who claimed Emmett Till, 14, ‘sexually threatened her’ so her guilty husband
I just knew there had to be a book involved. Another idiot crying for their 15 minutes of fame.
His numbers are basically right, but they are irrelevant to this case. White on black rape almost doesn’t exist statistically.
It is unresolved if the woman at the core of it says that she lied about the charges. And "pretty good" is not good enough when the tangle is not straightened out. Totally certain and verified is the only correct answer, and it is rather juvenile to suggest that such southern blindness did not take place.
And don't blame this on anti-Trumpism, either. These complaints should not be bagged together and chucked as irrelevant. My comment took neither side. It asked for the attention that deserves that the issue be settled forever, and that justice be blind, not with a "y'all" accent.
Put it in a pressure cooker and cook the meat off the bone, make fish patties and fry them, or smoke the meat off the bone
Having dinner together beats fighting each other
I Wondered the SAME THING! HE HE
That has nothing to do with the injustice and murder Till endured. Even if Till did what the woman said by grabbing her, the proper way would then to take him to the police and let the court decide his innocence or guilt. To just pick him up and brutally murder him and then sit there in court and get off because you’re white is evil and wrong and un-Christian. Yes there is reverse crime against whites now and days but two wrongs don’t make it right or justified in defense of an horrific crime. The devil is trying to divide all of us as a nation
Exactly!! Wallace left the Democrats at exactly the time I referenced and became an independent.
After a brief transition period, all those voters ended up supporting Republican candidates from then on. Thank you for supporting my point.
I know some will take this as nit-picking, but people will be writing about the Emmett Till case long after all of us are gone. It would be nice for historians to be able to tell an accurate story. It's perfectly possible, for example, that Carolyn (age 21) was sassing right back at young Emmett (age 14), that some version of this was reported back to Roy -- a perfectly innocent jesting/flirting conversation, except by the racial codes of Mississippi at the time -- and that this is what set him off. We still don't know.
"Whistling at a white woman" may in fact be the true story. But it would be nice to know for sure.
MS stayed Democrat after Goldwater won the state with 87 percent of the vote in 1964 until Thad Cochran made the first inroads. And look what kind of Republican he turned out to be.
4000 blacks were lynched by whites up through about 1960. Obviously cause for extreme consternation, screaming and gnashing of teeth. 4000 and more blacks were killed in Chicago by other blacks during the terms of Barack Obama. No consternation, screaming or gnashing of teeth. Dead silence, if I could use that word. Why? There is no money to be made or power to be gained when black kills black. Very simple answer.
Today this kind of murder is often - but not always - called a hate crime. Many times murder of this kind is called “an honor killing.”
The main difference between a hate crime and an honor killing is that the term “honor killing” does not include the words “hate” or “crime”. The term “honor killing” is less judgmental on the killer and the killer's culture. After all, the motivation was “honor”, not hate.
Regardless, the death of Till was horrific, even by today's standards and, as you note, way out of proportion to the supposed offense.
This evil woman is a murderer.
