A friend & coworker of mine flew Prince & Mayte to London and they were in business class, if I remember her story correctly. She referred to them as “hipster doofuses” and said that Prince would not speak directly to flight crew, but would instead whisper to the wife, who would then speak to them. Sounds pretty affected to me.

THAT is the link, that is the performance. Prince was an awesome musician.

I’ve seen “Purple Rain” but that was decades ago. I didn’t respect him then like I do now.

It’s very kind of you to alter your view on him. God blessed him with marvelous talent. Hubby and I were fortunate to see him live once. It’s something that stays with you forever. Had I known about this horrible pain he carried in his heart, Purple Rain would have had me openly weeping at the venue.

My wife had an amneo. While it was useful, it had no bearing our decision to have a child.

That's why we chose not to. We had lost a child to miscarriage and there was no way we were going to do anything to harm this second one. So the test was irrelevant for us.

Wow. I “dabbled” (lol) in my college years , late 80’s early 90’s, can’t imagine an ounce. Not judging by no means.

When I was was working a part time job in high school I went to lunch with one of the other guys and when we got in his car he said "I've got to make a stop and drop something off before we eat." He reached under the seat and gave me a brown paper bag to hold and off we went. When we arrived he took the bag, opened it and showed me a great big (really big!) back of pot inside. Told me it was a quarter pound. That's four ounces. My god, that's a lot of weed. He delivered it and we went on our way.

Looking back, I realize now that if we'd gotten pulled over I would probably have ended up in jail for a very long time. I now am certain that's why he had me hold the stuff while we were driving. I was the patsy designated to take the blame. I'd punch that bastard in the face if I ever saw him again.

Post 40 - great link also. I come from the Zeppelin/Pink Floyd/Deep Purple era, and I didn’t initially give Prince his musical due.

I had The Wall memorized at one time. I still remember most of it. Jimi Hendrix, The Doors, Janis Joplin, Bob Dylan,Zeppelin etc., I could go on. I loved them all.

BTW, if I ever hear stairway to heaven again it will be too soon. Zeppelin 1 and 2. Dazed and confused.

Yeah why is it so hard to die from xanax?

Xanax and other benzodiazepines don't depress respiration to the extent that opioids and barbiturates do.

I'm not sure most people understand that if you find someone who is not breathing or barely breathing due to an overdose of barbiturates or opioids, that you should start CPR on them immediately while you wait for the ambulance. If they get enough oxygen, they can probably survive.

In my younger days I maxed out at 20mgs in a day.

That's a lot. Much more than I ever took. Xanax helped me deal with my insomnia, but I decided that I liked its effects a little too much. I haven't used it in many years.

I went to a number of Prince performances and concerts “back in the day,” business took me up to Minneapolis, well, Chanhassen actually, I’ve been in Paisley Park. He was far more talented than was generally acknowledged in his heyday. Got lumped in with Michael Jackson, Morris Day & The Times, etc. but was far beyond them musically. Overshadowed by lyrics that more than just occasionally were pure raunch. Loved it at the time, still enjoy it although said lyrics are uncomfortable for me now, I tend toward the less overtly sexual tunes now, whereas at the time those were the high point. Very hardworking, both as a musician and as a performer. I never experienced a bad concert, he went above and beyond every single time. Earned my respect. Strange man, I don’t think he ever understood himself.

It’s a way to keep distance between himself and the public, to make it clear that he would like his privacy. You would be shocked at how horribly pushy people can be; by employing an intermediary, it forces people back a step to where they would normally be and act, interacting with a regular Joe and not a “superstar.” Seems aloof, but when you are mobbed quite literally everywhere you go, you employ social mechanisms like this or learn to live like a hermit.

I’ve seen many concerts in my day (Kiss, The Who, Rush, ZZ Top, Grateful Dead, Stevie Ray Vaughn twice, the list goes on as I like all kinds of music...). Prince’s Purple Rain Tour performance in NY ranks as one of the best. He put everything he had into it and the place was on fire.

We were as well. In our case the test would have given us a heads up to prepare for some pretty serious stuff at birth. The doc was fine with our decision (meaning there was no pressure at all about going to term).

Every case is different. I guess the overall point is that people are constantly tested. I loved that baby girl before I knew her.

barbiturates are hard to get these days from a doc because of that. you’re right. That’s like Valium, right?

much easier to OD right?

I read horror story about a group called Final Exit Network that posts where to buy in Mexico and China the drug they use to kill inmates with to commit suicide.

Nembutal i think it is

they also tell you how to make a helium mask

sick.

But I made one anyway just in case hillary won.

That’s like Valium, right?

No, Valium is another benzodiazepene. People rarely die from ODing on Valium.

Nembutal and Seconal are barbiturates. They are prescribed much less frequently than they used to be, partly because of the overdose risk.
