I do not know why him and his goofball sidekicks have employment anywhere.
They aren’t even qualified to work at any of the convenient stores they used to harass with moron trivia.
This article tries real hard to make it sound like Trump is the reason that Beck got moved. Beck has been going downhill for years. The suspension over Brad Thor calling for Trump’s assassination could have just been a momentary blip if Beck was otherwise popular. But Beck isn’t. He increasingly has been resorting to shock statements to get his name in the news. Even that is petering out at this point.
I like David Webb, he’s brilliant and all that- but his radio show is horrible.
His voice makes me crazy and there is nowhere near the energy needed for that time slot. They should put Jeff Kuhner or Bob Lonsberry or even a repeat of Hannity in that time slot.
So glad to see this nutcase fading away.
Just hope he isn't a case of herpes where he pops up again unexpectedly.
Beck has been trending downward of the past several years. His opposition to Trump was a gamble. Could have paid of or not. Trump won so it did not! His firing of Tomi Larhen was just plain stupid. No possible upside to that one at all.
For those new to this topic, I’ll rehash my experience with Glenn: in 2010 I was invited on his show when he was at the peak of his popularity. I gave him a copy of “A Patriot’s History of the United States,” which he hadn’t seen before (despite the fact it was published six years earlier and was well reviewed in National Review, Claremont Review of Books, Wall Street Journal, etc). He read it and was enthralled by it, holding it up nightly many, many times and touting its virtues. No question, he made it into a #1 bestseller.
He started having me on the show for history segments, a lot. I was getting 2-3 calls a week from his producers regarding various other segments. Later that year my “Seven Events that Made America” came out and he filmed a full one-hour show about the book with me, but when it was slated to run, “hard news” (something in Iraq) intervened and the book never did get out in full our form.
Shortly thereafter, he moved to Texas to start his media empire. I flew down a couple of times to be on the show, always at that time filmed and almost always with David Barton. By then, I started to see that Barton had really captured Beck’s ear. Beck’s commentary was sounding more and more like Barton’s. About three years ago, I was on for the last time, in which a Barton segment tried to have me draw similarities between the collapsing Weimar Germany, and Hitler, to the US. I refused. All my commentary said just the opposite, that the structure of Germany at the time was vastly different than the US, and that the Republicans in Congress needed to fight more, and harder, not reach across the aisle for kumba ya.
That didn’t sit well. I never saw the segment, but friends said that it was badly edited to twist what I said to in some way remotely support Beck’s position.
Not long after that, all Beck’s top staff was fired. They called it “resignations,” but they were fired. Barton stepped into the position held by Joe Kerry, Beck’s aide, as head of the charities-—a very, very powerful position.
We all know that for the last 10 years Beck has had some terrible health problems. I don’t know what part that has played in his collapse, but it can’t help but have an effect. Then there was the poorly designed business model. Even at its peak, the Blaze was 100,000 or more away from minimal revenue subscriptions. But the outlays in Texas were outrageous-—a full, movie film set (actually two) with dozens of dressing rooms, support, etc. This could not be sustained, and I knew when I was down there the last time that he was really burning through capital, especially since his product was almost exclusively a “ditto cam” type of show. That ain’t entertainment.
The trajectory was set, in my view, at least four years ago by bad business planning, by elevating Barton, and by departing from his very interesting historical pieces. When you pile the Trump hate on top of that, it spells C-R-A-Z-Y.
While clearly the time slot/channel change isn’t great for him, unless it comes with a pay cut it’s not really hurting him
Glenn was going off the rails before Trump came along.
His opposition to Trump just finished what he had already started in pushing away his audience.
Who?
Beck is a sad story to me. He was someone I never missed when he was on Fox, he and his team did some of the best research and reporting on television at that time. He went where no one else would go in digging into Obama, Soros, and that whole cast of characters. No one in the mainstream has done anything like it since.
I almost get the feeling that, to save his network, he took in some investors who drove his editorial line in another direction. I can’t explain it otherwise. He has always been a bit idiosyncratic but in the last couple of years he has simply gone off the deep end and has destroyed himself.
He used to offer some entertaining and sacastic wit, but honestly haven’t listened to him in probably close to a decade now, or really any talk radio regularly... so can’t say how he is doing but his Act was growing old back then.
I think once he got on TV he lost his way
Sad to hear Brad Thor was in on this. His thrillers are some of the best read since Robert Ludlum’s cold war books. Knew he was mobbed up with Beck as many of the Scot Harvath series books tell the truth about is1am, china, and russia, but was not aware he was an anti Trump....er
Live and learn.
KYPD
Elections have consequences and good things.
George Will and his DC thug friends and scum like Beck are finding out about the consequences of backing the losers and POing the winner!
They are the first casualities of Trump’s draining of the Deep State Swamp!
May they reap the results of backing the wrong and dangerous people, who hate America and us, for years and years.
David Webb is SO MUCH better than Beck.
I also stopped listening to his radio show over this. I felt he was disrespecting me by wasting my time with useless nonsense.
If I wanted a silly FM radio morning show, I know exactly where to tune in to get those.
