I think Stevie's "I Was Made to Love Her"* (on the charts at the time of the riot), with Wonder's intense vocal and powerful (enough) beat, matches the riot better than "Dancing..." (which is too mechanical and has been burned to death [no pun intended] anyway).
*Honorable mention to the Tempts' "All I Need", because of *its* beat and frenzy (and the title iykwim, although to be fair, it was out in the spring of '67).
