“Should be some fingerprints in all that happy mess.”

Along with DNA. Also they should have checked the local hospital ERs.

I remember reading, years ago, that they had to kill a shepherd that would not let the fire department in the house to rescue an elderly woman from a fire———(the lady did not make it).

The dog was doing it’s job.

Great dog. Should be awarded something. With the blood left I guess police should not have trouble finding those intruders. I can’t wait for the result of their investigation

We were robbed once a year ago when no-one except the Chow Chow was home.

There was no blood (middle of winter) but all the robber took was one pillowcase and a couple of minor items.

I would imagine it all took place in less than a minute...the chows don’t bark before they bite...

No one could hug or even get near my grandmother when the dog was in the room but the dog would lay on the floor and let us kids climb all over it, pull its ears, etc....

My grandmother (a widow who lived on a ranch in Central California) had a dog named Otto. Not sure of the breed, but he was big. My father’s younger brother had adopted him. My father came home from college and had to spend the night in the car because Otto wouldn’t let him near the house.

Our old German Shepard used to ride in the back seat of the car with my mom

A guy got in the passenger side door with a knife at a stoplight trying to car abduct mom.

Big mistake

The dog jumped up and bit the dude in the neck puncturing an artery.

She then jumped into the front seat and grabbed the guys knife arm so it was spurting blood too

The guy was trying to flee the car but the dog would not let go until mom stopped her

The only reason the jerk lived was because there was a hospital with a great ER at that stop light less than 100 yes away. Even then, he almost bled to death before they could get him in the ER

Great dog, miss her

We never did get all the blood cleaned out of the car

We used big Shepherds as Patrol Dogs in Vietnam. They were large, dangerous and effective. They could always sense the enemy way before we could and saved us more often from ambushes and infiltrators.

They were not friendly puppies: id the Dog Handler was killed or incapacitated, we were told to shoot the dog immediately - since he would attack anyone but the handler.

My two Berneses would have jumped in joy and licked the intruder’s face, hands and head and brought him all their toys. Wonderful dogs, very loyal and playful but worthless guards. Love them to death.

Mine were Shelties-———on duty and barked like mad when I was at home, and not in bed.

Not peep if the house was empty or I was asleep.

Not "Shepards." That was the first American Mercury astronaut, Alan Shepard, who later hit his 5-iron on the moon.

"Shepherds," short for "sheep-herds." Originally, they herded sheep.
