This article manages to encapsulate both modes of liberal coverage of Republicans: evil (Trump, Dick Cheney) or stupid (Reagan, George Bush). Liberal reporting is a cliche at this point - utterly predictable in it’s mindless, reflexive contempt for all things non-liberal.

I’m reasonably certain GE made a lot of money selling generators, switchgear, etc. to the TVA for all those hydroelectric, and later nuclear, facilities. Plus TVA was still growing at that time, so I’m sure GE management was upset with Reagan, who was upsetting the cozy apple cart of powerful constituencies within GE with such a statement.
