They were had a raised platform directly over the crowd, they must had a birds eye-view and probably heard the gunfire amplified over the PAs.

When you're on stage like that, you have spotlights on you and the crowd doesn't. It's a weird thing because you really can't see squat beyond the edge of the stage without having to squint.

Ditto on the sound aspect... they have earpieces in for their monitors. It lets them hear themselves on the monitor mix. It's really critical because without a monitor you're not going to hear the guitarist or drummer, or even hear your own vocals. Think of all the videos you may have seen where a singer's earpiece goes out and they become instantly lost in the music or their own pitch goes nuts. That's because the crowd noise keeps them from hearing what they're doing.

As such, it's totally understandable they're only hearing themselves play and probably not tuning into other stuff. I think there's a moment when he's singing and the first shots are going, and he's like "what was that?" but keeps singing. I'm totally of the opinion that it was the crew that realized something's up and rushed them off stage. Hard to say from the videos, but there are more than just the band on stage there running off.

It wouldn't be unfathomable for crew to think maybe the performer is the target of whatever, so yeah... they're gonna get him out of the spotlights. That's their job... notice how concerts have security at the stage? To keep weirdos from getting up there, etc? Their job is to protect the band. Yeah, there's other security staff to protect the crowd in general (fights breaking out or whatever), but everyone's got a different job to do.

I'm still not sure whose job it is to get on the PA and say "shooter! shooter! run for your lives!" Sure, someone could have, I just don't know how healthy it is to second guess those kinds of decisions after the fact.

We have the wonderful benefit of hindsight. I think it's obvious from watching the video that people in the crowd had mixed ideas about what the heck was going on. Clearly there was uncertainty at first, and by the time people realized what was up, no announcement was needed, so... moot point by then.

Spotlights were also aimed all over the crowds. This was not a closed inside venue where the audience is all but blacked out by stage lights. I’m confident they had a real good view.

Glad I could help! Don’t forget the old library or credit card ( sucking chest wounds),.
