Love fruitcake.
The texas stuff is good but I have had some local fruitcakes from great bakeries that can really bake up some flavor.
My Mother used to make a delicious cake. The layers were simple white cake.
She would grind up pecans and raisins in an old sausage grinder. I usually did the grinding as it was hard to turn. She used the stuff as icing, put on between layers and all over the outside.
It was very sweet and tasted best after a few days.
My wife buys Fruit Cake from the Assumption Monks Abby Bakery in Ava Missouri.Excellant fruit Cake.Especially with a good cup of coffee as has been said previously.
