Think of it as “another benefit for Illegals,” since if it ever puts a train on a track, it will go from Bakersfield to Fresno, and thus become “ transportation for fruit and vegetable pickers” to their “high-tech” jobs.

It would have been cheaper and better projected business if they did a Bullet train from San Fran to Tahoe - Reno - Vegas, and LA Vegas.

I mean why build a bullet train from Los Angeles to San Francisco. Tourism for Frisco? Stupid Stupid Stupid. I hope it never gets done and the Politicians responsible for it get burned for it.

You want to put the fear of God into California Democrats? Start investigating all the bribery and kickbacks and quid pro quo in that program. That will straighten them out on the sanctuary state issue ... heck they might even offer to pay for some of that wall.

{Cost climbs by $2.8 billion for California bullet train}

Dam.

If the costs climbed UP TO $2.8 billion, it would be too expensive. Climbing BY $2.8B is totally ridiculous!

The bullet train is nothing but an excuse for spending money, and to create thousands of jobs to build it.

After completion, fares are never going to be able to repay the costs of construction. But, it’s going to end up creating a few thousand more jobs after construction, even with no riders, just for maintenance.

Liberals don’t have to justify spending, as long as they can point to a number of jobs THEY created.

In technology there are man kinds of “ware”, such as hardware and software. In liberal-land, especially Kalifornia, they are creating “abandonware” and “rustware” and the train to “noware”.

No problem Moonbeam and his corrupt Dem cohorts in the legislature will just raise the gas tax again like in October when it went up 12 cents per gallon with the excuse that the money was needed to fix our decrepit highways.

This cost increase was for construction work along a geographically flat central valley area. Imagine when they start construction on an approximately 20 mile long tunnel through the mountain range north of LA in the middle of an earthquake fault area.

I live in California, and I can assure everyone there is no hope for California due to illegal immigrants and the inept Republican Party which has screwed up for many years. They let the Dems get away with implementing the so-called jungle primary. Now, for every major state-wide office, the two top primary winners are both Democrats. Bye bye Republican Party.

Our estimates were off by just a hair ... 35%.

By the time the entire project is completed we now estimate it will consume the wealth of the entire planet.

The GOP is probably the most RINO in California than other states. Certainly not the same California GOP that Reagan was in.

They really know how to waste money - would cost less to put a 15 lane superhighway 119 miles - wonder why they didn’t get access rights before they started the project - probably because they knew it would run up the costs enough to make it a non-starter....
