Maybe, like a lot of liberals, he had father issues.

His early books were good but his later works are repetitive, not very good or choke full of liberal
diatribes.
Geralds Game was last King book I read.
It’s perversions was sickening, especially the lakefront scence with the protagonist’s father. Sickening.(biographical???)
The scene in the tunnels with the preteens orgy in “It” was as revolting as it was unnecessary.
Either King has run out of ways to shock his readers or he is indulging in his own sick fantasies.
Either way I have bought my last Stephen King book long before this event.
(I must admit he had a good run run, everything from The Shining, Salem’s Lot to Delores Clayborne and Hearts in Atlantis. My favorite was The Stand and Christine )

I stopped reading his books at age 15 when I realized that they are basically all the same. He’s a genre-hack.

"By a van, IIRC. The inspiration for Misery. Like his other best stuff, "Misery" was published in the 80s, more than a decade before he got hit by the minivan. Seems a twisted mind is a main source of his inspiration and stupid comments; I'd boycott his works if any had been worth paying for in the last 30 years.

I live in Maine, and King is a frequent critic of the military, gun owners, Republicans, etc.
If he kept his opinions to himself, I wouldn’t care about his politics, either. His insults toward the military were especially irritating.

With a mind like his writing those creepy books also goes along with what his house looks like; right out of that movie with the spooky house, his house looks just like it.

Isnt that child porn?
I don't believe the written word is considered pornographic by legal standards.

The movie Christine was a lot better than the book. It’s the only movie by him I like.

That could be. Raymond Spruce sounded like he was a great guy-served in the merchant marine and Navy during WWII.
Great family man, married sixty some years, ran his own business, and had a bunch of kids.

In todays society, at least these scum reveal themselves. I used to be an avid King reader. Now I would p*ss on his books if I were to stoop to his level.

Even before I found out that King was a flaming liberal, I never thought much of him as writer.
King's works will never be confused with Shakespeare and never be the inspiration of a movement or be quoted from.
That said, he was very good at his genre, which I describe as glorified comic books.
He could write very good characters which he could make come alive and hold your attention for the length of the book.
If he had any failings it was he couldn't write the end. Too many of his books the last chapters were contrived or just not satisfying. "The Tommyknockers" was one.
"It"s ending was "stoooopid"

The movie Christine was a lot better than the book. Its the only movie by him I like.
Many of King's books have made it on to the Silver screen. His style(glorified comic book, horror) is very easy for directors to convert to both the large screen and small without skimping on the plot.
His first(IIRC) was "The Shining"
I usually watch the movie version of his books first then if I like it, I'll buy the book.
I enjoyed both the movie version of Christine and the written word.
Have you seen "The Night Flyer"? Not a book but a movie written by King. Good horror flix, IMHO. Also "Storm of the Century"

His early books were good but his later works are repetitive, not very good or choke full of liberal diatribes. King reminds me of Elton John. His early stuff was good & even holds up well (I loved SALEM'S LOT, THE STAND, THE SHINING) but later declined.

‘Salems lot’ is very good.
It has one chapter that is one page long, and it describes the autumn arriving in the town and the horrors arriving too, and it is pure gold. It is one of the best literary masterpieces I’ve ever read.
I often go back to read just that one chapter.
“It” drove me crazy. I literally stopped reading it and tossed it into the trash 3/4’ths of the way through.. and I only got that far because I was trying to force myself to finish
I think ‘The Stand’ was the last good one.
