Even his lead article about the “killer dogs” cites a bull terrier as a member of the Pit Bull line. Uh, no, Pitts, staffies, American Bull and others are Terriers true but different dogs and characteristics. Pits were known as “Nanny Dogs” early on, prized for their defense of young children while being loving and caring members of the family. Just because people take them and train them to be fighting dogs does not condemn the whole breed anymore than it’s predecessors in the Killer Dog category
Long story short there are no bad dogs, only owners

The problem with excusing cat kills is that it still doesn’t account for why such a huge % are PBT types perpetrating.
Another thing to note is that PBT/bulldog is a type, not a specific one breed. And it includes much larger breeds than the real PBT would entail. Their blood is in many breeds.
Yet, despite the apologetic martyrdom surge in people owning these animals, and there being multiple breeds, they still are not that popular...thus the casualty #s are staggering beyond even their face.

The rule in shelters seems to be mostly Put Bulls. I think a lot of people get them in the first place to “compensate”. They want to look tough with a tough dog. I don’t know whether the problem is they can’t handle a tough dog, or they can’t handle a 100 pound lap dog.

Rational? No, that’s not rational to assume the owner is somehow at fault only. Those dogs got those traits somehow. Behavior is as much driven by genetics as that stubby nose and heavy build and colors.
