I like Sabine, Hera and Ahsoka. They’re much better than Rey. Refused to see TLJ, so I can’t compare them to those chicks.

I think it’s because they have to split the grosses with the theater owners and distributors. They also keep less of the international grosses especially from China.

It’s “OK”. I got the screener being a Disney production friend.

Usually Im the first here to review and get riled up when my leftard radar spots lefty talking points in the movie. The guy who plays Solo, is alright. He ain’t a stiff but the rest of the cast are stiffs, except for Clark. She’s alright but an actress with no range..

Disney shareholders are noticing. Disney's Mickey Mouse Attempt To Silence Critics At Its Shareholder Meeting Backfires , by Justin Danhof 3/29/2018.

At the last shareholder meeting, Bob Iger tried to prevent shareholders from asking questions by only allowing Disney Fan Club members in certian rows to speak. The shareholders and fans caught on, and and one fan let Danhof ask a question about Jemele Hill and Joy Behar. The shareholders and were not amused and voted against Iger's compensation package.

This was after Disney started damage control over fan outrage over The Last Jedi. I suspect that one of the reasons Iger is getting away with this is he says he will quit Disney in 2019. You can imagine there are a lot of Star Wars fans and shareholders who would like both ger and Kennedy out sooner.

It’s truly amazing if you look at how the current leadership of LucasFilm has behaved along with their media allies - just like a Leftist political campaign, followed by the same formulaic excuses for why people are rejecting what they are doing - sexists, racists, white supremacists, etc. Some have even blamed Trump and Russian and alt-right bots for The Last Jedi negative reviews on Rotten Tomatoes.

And yes, some have indeed claimed it was because there was a white male lead.

The Last Jedi indeed is the reason for this - not this movie in of itself. I might rent Solo at Redbox...maybe. But I won’t spend a penny on another Star Wars film at a theater if this group remains in charge of LucasFilm.

Finn was actually a potential decent character who was totally messed up by TLJ, and Rose was pointless - just thrown in there. Worse than Jar Jar Binks - at least he had a story arc that had a point to it to advance an actual storyline rather than just being tossed in for absolutely no reason (could have done without some of his scenes, but his character ultimately had a point).

It totally bombed in China even worse than most places - Asia apparently finds our SJW politics very abhorrent.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baizuo

The word baizuo is, according to political scientist Zhang Chenchen, a Chinese word that ridicules Western “liberal elites”. The term has also been used to refer to perceived double standards of the Western media, such as the alleged bias on reporting about Islamist attacks in Xinjiang.

Zhang Chenchen further defined the word “baizuo” with the definition “People who only care about topics such as immigration, minorities, LGBT and the environment”
and “have no sense of real problems in the real world”; they are hypocritical humanitarians who advocate for peace and equality only to “satisfy their own feeling of moral superiority”; they are “obsessed with political correctness” to the extent that they “tolerate backwards Islamic values for the sake of multiculturalism”; they believe in the welfare state that “benefits only the idle and the free riders”; they are the “ignorant and arrogant westerners” who “pity the rest of the world and think they are saviours”.

Baizuo is used as an insult amongst Chinese netizens.

Thanks for sharing. Yeah I can imagine there are many people unhappy with Iger and Kennedy right now.

Maybe they can complete their homage for fans from the 80s by getting the rest of the cast from Cheers into Star Wars movies...

Star Wars Rebels is the best SW outside the original trilogy.

Still, it left us wanting too much. Every victory, seemed a little hollow, even the finale. I think it was designed that way.

If they had watered it and nurtured it, it would have grown. They just sat back and whizzed on it, and expected it to grow.

Ron Howard has been directing movies since the mid-70s. He knows a thing or two about filmmaking.

But you can’t save a bad script/plot/casting.

Disney studio had been on the ropes in the 80s but 3 things turned them around, sell-through pricing on VHS for home video (prior to that home video sales had been to stores at $79 instead of $22 for purchase), Touchstone films (Disney starts making R rated comedies), and the success of the Little Mermaid.

But they had been struggling with weak boxoffice returns on The Black Hole and other things. They did get a bit of box office with theatrical rerelease of their older films in those days (before video took over).
